Good road holding in the dry and wet.Low noise on the motorway, just what you need because a n/a aint a power house that you need the best tyres for the car.Great for everyday driving. Go for them. d-a-n Posted August 13, 2011 Share Posted August 13, 2011 Just used Event tyres in Manchester, I ordered the tyres online last night and they phoned saying they could fit them this morning. I went to the depot but they do come out to fit tyres. My 165 70 13 Uniroyal Rainexperts worked out cheaper from Event Tyres than getting them from mytyres or Camskill and having them fitted at a local for about £10 a corner. Last time I bought tyres online, I spent a Saturday afternoon driving around Manchester being told they wouldn't fit 3rd party tyres. Factor in this time, my fuel and the waiting around for a tyre delivery and Event seemed a better service! As for 185 55 14s (which give you the closest diameter to standard tyre size, thus keeping speedo correct) I used to use Kumho KU31s on my Nova so I can see why you'd want to return to them. I dabbled with Falken ZE912s but these weren't as good in the wet. Cooper XTCs aren't very clever either, I'd far rather have the Avon ZV3s which I have sampled on a friends Corolla. But the Kumhos are where it's at and at £41.50 from Camskill (plus delivery, plus fitting) they work out quite reasonable for a set of boots. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

d-a-n Posted August 13, 2011 Share Posted August 13, 2011 If you're desperate for tyres, it might be time to dig a little deeper and go for something from a premium brand like a unlop SP Fast Rsponse or a Conti Premium Contact - I wouldn't trade down with tyres to budget brands, it'll only end in disappointment. Mike_trx Posted August 15, 2011 Share Posted August 15, 2011 Bit of a side note here (sorry to thread pinch!) but im also looking for a set of 185/55/14 tires to fit my Wedsport RS-5 alloys and whilst searching spotted some guys actually stick 195/45/14 tires on there wheels and say they fit fine, also a better selection of tires through this option! Has anyone tried this or can shed some light on this? Would be helpfull to me and no doubt ASAD too Quote Link to post Share on other sites

d-a-n Posted August 15, 2011 Share Posted August 15, 2011 A long as the rim width is 6 or more inches you'll be fine - I once fitted some 195 45 14s to a set of 5.5j 14 inch steels (despite Toyo's catalogue recommending that you don't) and they were not a happy fit.
