GLANZA 4efte sparks? heat range?

Recommended Posts

i thought the higher modded your engine the higher the heat range?

a standard 4efte - heat range 6

a lightly modded 4e - heat range 7

heavily modded 4e - heat range 8/9?

or is this wrong?

I'm only going on what i've been told, dependent on manufacturer, the heat range merely relates to the optimum operating and self cleaning properties of a plug. So dependent on the state of tune, a higher power engine will of course create more heat, warranting a 'hotter' plug. A colder plug would merely overheat and fail, a too hotter plug will foul up and limit its performance. The heat range doesnt have anything to do with the temperature of the spark/ignition itself. Certain manufacturers work their heat range scale differently to others. NGK's works out the lower the number, the higher the operating temp.

Heres a link from NGK's own website to verify. Well worth a read:)

While were on topic, would anyone think heat range 7 NGK iridiums are to high for 1 bar of boost on a CT9 with a plug and play ecu?

Also anyone know what to gap them at? I think mine are currently 0.9mm

Cheers

Luke

I've got the same and basically same spec
