N80Jamie
Compression test was done the other day on the project GT and these are the results we got:cylinder 1 - 180cylinder 2 - 120/130cylinder 3- 180cylinder 4 - 170/180We were planning on just changing the headgasket but after the result from cylinder 2, were not so sure. Is there any other tests we can do to target what the problem is with cylinder 2? Another thing which we noticed was that the spark plug gap for cylinder 2 was bone dry with what looked like 'rust dust' lol ;)Any ideas at all will be a great help
Socks
You need to find out why your loosing compression...if the headgasket has failed between the cylinder and the waterway or even an oil way... Not a problem, new headgasket would fix it..If its related to piston or piston ring failure (test this by pooring a egg cup of oil down spark plug hole and re-testing) if the psi goes up then its sealing around the ring and its piston/ring failing. which would be a bottom end repair!could also be a valve seat!? Starbuck
Cheers socks. We shall give that a go.
Taggy
From the readings from the other cylinders though the engine looks healthy and not worn, so a piston ring is less likely, I would bet my money on the head gasket, especially if you have got rust residue on your plug.Cheers socks. We shall give that a go.

Starbuck
Well we have oil in the water..... Which made us check the engine as we wanted to make sure we had a good base to go from to just do the HG. Cheers
ryan lang
run the car, and pull out the dipstick slightly, and if it smokes it could be rings. just a quick 1 before you go pulling it apartmost likely ringlands, because everyones seem to be going lately lol
Sparky
Oil in the water will be headgasket failure although the pistons are made of pooh so I wouldnt be suprised lol
Idrees
although the pistons are made of pooh so I wouldnt be suprised lolNot true What Socks' advised is the easiest way to check if it's a ring related problem.
