Kim-Tech Super computer system

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

So I had my suspiscions about my ECU not being stock since (I think) the engine runs a bit rich also the car pulls over 180 km/h which should be the limit for a stock ECU without a SLD.

This morning I had the time to examine the ECU and so I found this:

imag0181yp.jpg

Now I don't have a clue of what kind of chipset this is or what it actually does.

Also I can't seem to find anything about this on the internet.

All it says is what's in the picture and on the seal it says "Tuned by Kim-Tech"

So is there anyone who can help me find out what this thing really does??

Or even someone who has come across these things before??

Cheers,

Jurriën

Never seen one of these before either ;)

I'm guessing it's really similar to all the other plug and play ECUs as it looks like a standard one.

So would raise the red line, remove fuel cut, remove the speed limit, fuel for more boost ect

Well, the car is running .77 bar of boost with the stock actuator.

I believe it does still have the fuelcut because when the car arrived in the Netherlands the import shop wanted to see if the stock boost could be restored so they had put in a boost restrictor from a WRX.

When they test drove it, the glanza would constantly hit fuelcut and was undrive-able.

Also the redline is still around 7k rpm.

Yeah it is quite nice to find goodies, but i'm not quite sure if I like this find so much. :p

I hope someone still can tell me more about this.

  • 1 month later...

I installed a stock EP91 ECU and the car runs smoothly now.

No more engine warning lights, boost is lower than before and it also doesn't stink anymore when I hit the throttle.

Also the car is alot stronger in the higher rpm range.

Before I installed it I opened both the stock and the Kim-Tech ECU to see the difference between the 2.

I found out that there was 1 chip on the Kim-Tech which didn't match the stock one but also didn't match the other numbers on the ECU.

So I'm guessing it is a chipped ECU.

All solved :)

Oh, some guy I know had send pics of the ECU to some Glanza friends of his in Japan.

They didn't know what it was since they also never came across one before.

Probably just a random chipped ecu. My mate bought a honda p30 ecu that was 'chipped'. It made his car run like shit so he opened it up to find It had one extra chip on it with spoon pencilled on it, 450 quid wasted haha
