Jordk
I noticed recently my boost was creeping alarmingly high. Slowly creeping up to about 20 psi. Everytime I seen it creep past 12 psi j was right off the throttle. Now the gauge is flying up to the max (30 psi!!!) on full throttle. Again I've been driving it out of boost to be safe. What would be causing this? The actuator? The adjustable actuator fitted is quite rusty. What's the best plan of action. Help please!!!
mark1991
That does not sound good, If the actuator is rusty and not opening that would cause alot of over boosting. What about a little bit of wd40 around where the rod go into the the actuator (if it is sticking) ? and also un hook the actuator and see it can be moved with ease and agin wd40 if needed? Jordk
I'll try that. I tried to turn the actuator down slightly today but the nut was seized so I just put it back on (still the same length).
mark1991
I could give you my spare standard actuator but it is really weak... But it would get you by for a wee bit?
Johnboy GT
Whats your mani like Jordan? Got an adjustable actuator thats practically brand new if you want buddy? John
Jordk
Actuator wd40'd up now and will see in the morning got a early start at work so hopefully this cures it. Will keep updated :/

Jordk
Right well nothing so far. I got a video of it today too for folk to see how quickly it creeps />http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l29/jordkil/4225e10b.mp4I wonder if the bolt I put in the actuator arm is maybe too big and catching something stopping it opening? Johnboy GT
Il give you a different gauge to try aswell see what happens. It seems to jump up really quick as in too quick to be able to build that amount of pressure.John
DavidAshton
Looks to me like your getting unlimited boost! Which would sugest the actuator arm is not opening the wastegate it at all. Can you manually move the arm to open the wastegate? If all the above moves freely you could have an issue with the vac pipes between the turbo and whatever boost controller you are using. Firstly check all vac lines are all still there and connected, check each pipe fully for splits or even burns. Let us know what you find. Also what are you using to control boost and how is it plumbed in? Edited May 15, 2012 by DavidAshton
Jordk
There isn't a boost controller plumbed in yet I'm awaiting a new solenoid. The vac pipes look fine as they are quite new. I have a new depo gauge that should arrive this week as that one is shite. I just disconnected the actuator arm and gave it a wiggle and pulled at it. It seems pretty fine to be honest. I can manually pull it about halfway while attached to the waste gate but then I run out of space for my hand. But the actuator arm itself pulls right out. I'll see on the drive home if it works again as I don't think the waste gate was opening at all :/
Josh@TunerLifestyle
i recon new gauge is whats needed.dose the spooling of the turbo sound any more than when it was fine before?
Jordk
Sorted it now the actuator was sticking. Still has creep but no where near as scary. Porting will sort that. The turbo sounded like it was screaming its head off lol. New gauge should be here this week now!
DavidAshton
Glad you got it sorted. It may be worth fitting a new actuator just incase this happens again and you dont notice! I have also known the turbo - cat gasket get in the way of the wastegate flap so just take note when re fitting after porting your wastegate. Jordk
Yeah the gasket was over hanging a bit too much. I'll trim it down. Looking at getting a fresh actuator to be safe as the old one looks past it's time tbh. Thanks for the help folks!
