siren676 Posted June 27, 2012 Share Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) Picked up my new car today. So much fun to drive especially in the wet. Its a 1990 Mazda MX5 NA6C 5spd manual. Only done 163,000k's and i got it for $2700nzd (1360gbp) Needs a little bit of work done to it, mainly the roof needs replacing (came with a brand new one, just needs to be installed) and the clutch will need changing at some point, accidentally went from 2nd to 5th and the revs didnt drop :oops: Plans will be to lower it and chuck on my OG oldskool wheels and just drive it as its rather fun to drive as it is. Which is basically a plate which lists modifications and says my cars safe with them and if anything is changed it requires re-certification.Would i just be able to use my current top mounts if i got one of those kits? siren676 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Share Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) Bought some tein lowering springs which were rated at a 40-45mm drop. Took around 8 hours to install them as it was my first time doing suspension on the car and i only had manual spring compressors For some reason it didnt lower the car by much. Going off the before and after measurements it only lowered it by 15-20mm so im a little disappointed by it. The first listing caught my eye and i called the guy up straight away and said i'll buy it.It was a version 2 hardtop with heated window, insulated roof and it was red! Cost a little more than i had so parents have shouted me the difference as an early birthday present.Picked it up for $1300 (~660 GBP) which is understandable since its winter and everyone wants them.The extra weight of it has lowered the rear of the car slightly so im happy with the height for now (till i can afford some coilovers) Quote Link to post Share on other sites

They have 10kg front springs and 8kg rearGot them installed by a mates tyre place where i also got the guards rolled and a wheel alignmentWas a little fun trying to get it to align properly. Finally got it to ~2mm toe in front and rear, 5º caster, -1.5º camber on the front and -2º on the rear.Its running as little camber as the adjustment would allow at this ride height which im pretty happy with (~90-95mm to chassis rails)Got a hardtop spoiler from Carbon Miata in real carbon fibre Also just the other week i got a new torsen lsd out of an 1800cc NA mx5.It was an absolute prick of a thing to swap but it was well worth the effort Plans now are to get some smaller tyres, lower it more, get a roll bar then start saving for a supercharger Comments are welcome as always.(will try fix broken image links in other posts) Quote Link to post Share on other sites
