Re-shimming?

Ive got my head port and polished and putting it back together and just wondering if i will have to re shim even if i am using exsisting parts?

Any help would be greatful

Well ive got them all numbered so should be alright. Didn't want it sounding like a trator when i put t back together.

If the valves were recut or relapped they will need reshimming as the valve heights will have changed but if you have gone to the expense of all that work why would you not check them if the heads off anyway?

Even if you've numbered them it'll pay to check the clearances. Its worth the hour or so work to do it and get the shims right especially if you've gone to all that effort
