Max9650
Hey just wondering if this is correct, wanted to see if my spool time was correct today so i put it in 5th gear at 40mph, at 2000 rpm, put my foot to the floor and i didnt get full boost ( 0.8bar) until 4500 revs, is that correct or do i have a boost leak? Cheers!
pick1
Sounds a little high for me mate rpm wise put u were in 5th and it is only a 1.3 engine so 40 in 5th might be asking a bit much try 3rd gear or summit n see then but that's just my opinion mate some one else may be able to give u better advice
Amjad
Sounds very high, I don't know an exact figure but I'm pretty sure I get 1.1bar below 3k
Max9650
3k as in like 2-5k rpm = 3k ? maybe ill take the bumper off tomorrow and make sure everything is nice and tight Edited July 24, 2012 by Max9650
starletburkie
should be getting .8 bar at around 2800rpm, in 5th floored from low revs
AdamB
Should be tested in 4th gear as this is a 1:1 ratio between gearbox output speed and road wheel speed.
Amjad
3k as in by 3000rpm
Max9650
Okay ive done the test in 4th gear and simular results, put my foot down at 2k RPM and it didnt go full boost till over 4k ,ive had a quick look at the pipes and tightened some up and it doesnt appear to made a difference,Had a look at the HKS Actuator and it appears very stiff to move by hand so im not sure if thats causing it?
AdamB
It might be stiff because it has the pin in it which secures it and stops it from moving. If there are no vac leaks it could be a problem with the actuator not keeping the wastegate shut long enough.
Max9650
it seems to boost okay up till 0.5bar then it holds there for abit then continues up slowishly to 0.
WallaceGlanza
The HKS actuator should be stiff. It may well be set at 0.5bar and is actually creeping up to 0.8bar, what other mods have you got?

pick1
I had a similar problem once and I had the same issue and it was down to the actuator sticking which didn't allow me full boost till 4k or just over take it off mate give it a clean and see if u can free it up I'm pretty sure Starbo Moorley had a similar issue with a ct9 set up and that was down to actuator I think
Max9650
What should I clean it with?
pick1
Give it a little soak or heavy spray of wd40 mate then just work it in mate moving the actuator arm etc to free everything up then see how u get on dude
pick1
My mistake then just sounded about rite when I wrote it may of been a different issue i had then but sure Starbo Moorley had a similar issue and it was down to the actuator I dunno then mate keep trying lol

Max9650
Okay i've done what Moorley said and i feel it picks up boost abit faster but still seems to have the problemIve made 4 videos, but i was driving 1 handed as i had the camera in my left hand which i also needed to change gear, so did my best haha Edited July 27, 2012 by Max9650
Max9650
What do u think peeps? Was revving the car on idle up to like 5k and the actuator arm wasn't moving, is this normal?
