TrisK
if you sand back to metal mate then get some filer/primer on there so it doesnt oxidize you will be fine
StuDoc 72
You can use stuff call kurust or jenolite but tbh mate the only way to get rid of it for good is to get into it with a grinder untill its completely gone and then as trisk said just fill it.
rinseep82
My bodyshop guy uses stuff called gum grinds it all out and puts that in sucks any remaining moisture out the metalwork might b worth a try mate
Ryan-11
If its pretty bad the only way to get rid is to cut it out, it will just comes back if u grind it and fill it, if its not too bad then you might get away with grinding till it gone.

akyakapotter
I've always been told to cut it out as it will come back spreads like wild fire rust dose
Starlet__SR
What i've always done with troublesome rust spots is to clear as much of it as possible. Once back to bare metal, coat it with acid etch primer. It helps seal and bonds the paint to the metalwork. Then use your primer/paint of choice to put the colour back.Day
