Majority of people use 5.1 in their GTs / Glanzas mate, I've always used it in my Starlets too.

We have OEM Toyota 5.1 fluid in stock if you need any.

Cheers for your contribution lads, only asking because im in the middle of a complete brake overhaul and noticed a nice new bottle of valvoline 5.1 in the the corner of the garage so didnt know whether to stick with dot 4 or flush out and start again with 5.1?

If its only a higher boiling point and there are no gains then i may not bother.

Cheers,

James.

It's also good to remember that there is a big difference with DOT 5 and DOT5.1! DOT5 is silicone based and if you are going to change from/to DOT 5 you should flush the whole system carefully, because silicone won't mix with DOT3, 4 and 5.1 fluids! ;-)

Good info about brake fluids here.

As title says 5.1 not 5.0 I stay away from silicone based brake fluid.

Only asked for input as i have used 5.1 on a majority of cars in the past but i always like to here peoples thoughts before i go ahead with somthing.

5.1 all in now roll on summer :)

Cheers.
