StarletMad
Some of you may know im refurbing my wheels atm.Just wondered if it was worth putting these back on legally for a while to save some pennies. All tyres have 3-4mm across the wheel aprt from the inside edges. There is no cord showing.Toyo 1Toyo 2Parada 1Parada 2Thanks
daniel_g
Yes mate, you are allowed to go down to 1.6mm across 75% of the centre width of the tyre. With wear on both edges aslong as no cords or metal showing.
StarletMad
So im guessing as its a 195mm tyre providing 150mm of the tyre has at least 1.6mm then its legal?Saying that i didnt get any advisory on my MOT a little while ago. daniel_g
Yes that would be about right, but at 1.6mm the tyre is 100% worn, 2mm 94% worn etcYou wouldn't get an advisory in an MOT for 3-4mm tread. It will be totally fine to put these on for a while, but any lower and stopping distances and water dispersion is compromised.

loguey
Id say there legal. But if your getting your wheels refurbed id advise getting new ones on as i can almost guarantee the fresh paint will get chipped, paint takes months to harden, if i was you id get the tires back on once the wheels have been primed to save riskin them gettin damaged
