Fpr installed car cranks before firing

Recommended Posts

Just put my FSE adjustable fpr on and turned on my FCD set it all up in accordance to wideband readings got a 14.7 idle and seems to be fuelling pretty well throughout rev range.

Now a few times I went to start the car earlier it cranked a few times before firing, when I got home I switched it off and on and it was perfect.

If this problem starts up tommorrow morning, would this be possibly down to losing fuel pressure over time?

I've read it could be the fpr failing but I know one bit of hosing felt a little looser than I'd have liked on the return line so perhaps this is releasing the pressure?

Other things I done while playing:

Removed charcoal cannister and associated sensors (vacs blocked)

Cheers

Ohh thanks aky

What do you get wideband wise while driving off boost I set mine up by setting FCD to 8 and upping fuel pressure until I got a 14.7 idle my auge gives warns on rich or lean I don't get them through my rev range but on normal driving conditions I see higher than 14.7 but below warns is that right?

I can find what to expect at WOT and idle but nothing under normal conditions lol.

Thanks

Normal condition driving AFR is irrelevant unless using programmable management system. When using the FPR + FCD method always tune to ensure the engine is safe at WOT. If using a rising rate type regulator it will do a pretty good job of adjusting the fuel pressure according to boost and vacuum levels.

Ahh that's why I can't find figures. So asking as my wideband isn't giving me warns before wot I'm ok what ever the fuelling, I basically set the FCD to 8 and adjusted fpr to 14.7 idle.

I've not been able to WOT test it tbh it's a very rare occasion I do boost.

I need to up my idle now and then probably re adjusted the fpr to perfect it accordingly? as I've managed to get my idle down to 500-800 with idle screw right in, before I was getting 1.5-2k idle at that lol!

Aslong* sorry didn't mean to say asking that's my auto correct messing me up

what boost do you plan on running?

Im rrFPR and FCD, running 1bar boost.

My car idles at 13, because i had to set my fuel pressure to 3.2bar(standard is 2.4)

This gives me a perfect WOT afr of 11.4.

When cruising at 100kmh, i get around 14.7, at lower speeds its slightly leaner.

Weyro 1bar Td05 standard internals, thanks for the figures I upped it to around 3bar but I'm sure it's still running into the lean areas towards WOT when it's back tommorrow I will be having a good fiddle and adjustment session. Thanks again

I got it at 4 bar a moment ago and got a max rich at 10.3 so I need to back it off a little was just having issues with car reading LEAN at idle.

@adam I know, boost is a rare thing though maybe once a week for under 30 secs. I am on the lookout for a 04 until I have forged internals and other supporting mods then I'll look at some decent management

It was going full lean while I was trying to set it up without the vac then staying lean with it lol.

Seem to have it Sussed at the mo I got it down to 3.8bar I think it'll want a tad more leaning but I'll be able to tell from my peak values after a wot run.

It's been weird though twice yesterday when I re started the car before and after changing fuel pressure it was going to 18~:1 but after a little poodle down the road correcting itself slowly to 14.7 Area at very light load (thats how I drive 99% of the time)
