JonnyOk
Hi all, just wondering if the gearbox ratios on a uk spec 4efe are the same as a 5efe gearbox? Thanks
Flaminsam
Not sure to be honest, but I have a 5e gearbox sat in my lock up. :/

JonnyOk
So acceleration would not be as good but cruise at lower rpm on motorways?
rmsnoel
No. 5efe gearbox is better. This is all down to the final drive ratio. It means the 5efe box is faster 1st 2nd 3rd and slightly longer 4th 5th meaning better cruising speed buts 0-100 becuse you dont have to use 5th.Wiki search c154 c151 c-series transmissions then googl search gearbox, man calculator and enter the details into the graph and youll see for youself. 5efe gearbox on a 4efe is good and 4efe gearbox on a 5efe is great. 5efe engine in a statlet will be 130mph no problem
rmsnoel
Download the free gear ratio calculator and have a play with the different toyota gear ratios and different wheel/tyres sizes to get your desired results.A 5efe gearbox in a mr2 is very popular because of the paseo's closer ratios
Amjad
Interesting! I'd love a 5e in my NA, then again I'd rather drop a 5e in the GT
rmsnoel
Amjad, go and checkout the different ratios man as youll see a 4efte is geared til near 170mph to keep 5th cruising speed. Imanage it geared to 155mph at 7500rpm now that would be a quick gttSometimes I put the ratios into forza4 just to see the acccelartipn differences. Im a tech nerd I know..
