How to declare car scrapped?

I bought a 106 shell the other day. Took it to scrap yard who didn't ask for log book, they just put it through as 'scrap'

So now I've got a log book in someone else's name and no car?

Will I have to just keep sorning it or can I declare it as scrapped???????

Write a letter explaining to the DVLA and attach the logbook. Mention the name of the scrap place too.

There's a bit in log book for delacred scrap or exported

I'm looking now and it's only permanent export now, think they might have changed it when the new log books came out

As idrees said - send v5 with covering letter saying its been scrapped

go back to your scrappys and see if they will dispose of the logbook. because i scrapped a discovery a couple years ago but kept the v5 and tags, but then decided to scrap it, so took the log book down and they declared it as scrap and sent the log book away free of charge.

There used to be a ticky box, but now with new logbooks, and new disposal laws, they have to go through a certified disposal place to declare the vehicle and fluids were disposed of correctly.

Scrappy shoud have given you something to confirm the vehicle was scrapped, which you can send to the DVLA if the V5 doesn't list it as an option

I think they just put it through as standard scrap so would have gone through as waste. Will pop down there on saturday

I scraped my paseo at the start of the year and the scrappy never gave me anything so I sent off the logbook and covering note.

When I scrapped the N/A I filled out the bit on the v5 that says declare vehicle scrapped and sent it off didn't have any issues doing it that way??

think you have to get it scrapped at an authorised displosal point so they have to give you certificate of destruction now. Its no longer an option on the V5.
