GLS_mike
A mate of mine (the one who crashed his SR-will be posting pictures soon) is fortunate enough to have a father who works at toyota. He told me that by putting a corolla ECU in my starlet, it would improve performance because the corolla is bigger and heavier than mine.....Is this true?Has anyone tried it??Cheers Mike
SiCaln
not a bad idea, wouldnt hurt to try get one from a scrappers fairly easily id imagine
Sparky
I think it would improve performance coupled with the inlet mani from the Corrola becase it has a higher ev limit I believe.Dont know if the loom would be the same or slightly different though
RobSR
watching this with interest sounds like a good idea.....
SiCaln
yea makes sense, if it works should notice a few bhp unleashed
Jozinobi
You'll be lucky if it starts your engine and doesnt cut out. Most starlet looms are made to run with that exact ecu.Im running 5efe and am using the 4efe ecu.I have a 5efe ecu and plugged it in, and the car started and cut out. This was due to incompatibility with the loom and the immobiliser. There is a solution but I didnt decide to pursue it.I have other plans so it does not matter which ecu I have in her About this unleashing of power, the only way you would find out for sure is a before and after dyno or rr run.Is it worth it just for a few ponies?Joz
GLS_mike
Hhmmmm if it is a direct fit and i can pick one up cheap i may do it. If it aint or I can't then i wont my mate is asking his dad if it will fit etc tonight so i'l keep you all informed...could be another major break through in N/A tuning Mike
Jozinobi
By all means try it Mike if you can get hold of the said ecu, hopefully it has the same pin outs.Joz
rob_bower
if it fits would be a good improvement would need the mani as said above and the injectors as they are different too!!! i contemplated it a while ago but the guy wouldnt leave me alone with the car to "borrow" the ecu and injectors
