Looking into getting a external wastegate set up but I don't know what all the different spring ratings are for ? I'm running a td04 and fully forged if that helps.

You just pick a spring for your min boost mate.

Then use a ebc to up it

I have a .6 spring in mine and run .7,1,1.2,1.4 bar on my EBC

Also if changing from internally gated to external will I need it back on RR and set up ?

Yeah as boost will come in completely different

Also don't expect a 0.4 bar spring to be able to hold 1.4 bar either. Personally just get a spring which suits your minimum boost pressure you want to run, then as said just use an EBC to raise it.

So a .8 would be ok for holding 1.4 as that's the max I run it

Whats the lowest you want to run? Should be ok with a 0.8 bar spring though

Lowest would be around .8 mate

Just use a 0.8 bar spring then mate, should be more than capable of holidng 1.4 bar.
