ShafzC
I've got a TD04 GT running 0.5bar and at first when I got it it was fine when cold but when the engine warmed up it started to judder on medium/hard acceleration, and the boost gauge would on light throttle go from -0.8 to -0.3 and -0.4 then a hard kick as it started boosting and would build enough boost to chatter even on light throttle. I changed the spark plugs for NGK iridium heat range 7's and gapped them at 0.9mm and now it's the opposite. It judders and runs like crap when cold but when the cars warm its perfect and boosts just fine. Anything I should look for? As it's really hard to drive it when it's juddering from cold. Thanks in advance. Edited April 25, 2013 by ShafzC
Matt1878
Your plugs should be set to 0.8mm iirc Also, your boost gauge is at -0.8 which is correct for idle but it should go up way more than -0.3. What management are you running? Are you running a boost controller!?
ShafzC
No management at the moment. And it does boost all the way to 0.5 I just mean on light throttle it goes from -0.8 to -0.4 then suddenly goes to +0.1 then I get chatter, as in it boosts all over the place but when the cars warm it runs perfect. Would changing the gap from 0.9mm to 0.8mm fix the juddering at cold temps do you think?
Matt1878
Possibly not solve the problem mate however it might help. Are you running a boost controller of any kind!? Is it set up?I let my car warm up before driving it
ShafzC
Haven't got a boost controller I believe it's just the standard management setup with actuator. I drive the car cold but I don't boost till it's warm (75ish degrees+) but it seems to want to boost by itself. As in if I'm in 2nd on light throttle it will spike up in boost and the whole car will judder. I find it odd how it used to be fine cold and run like crap warm, but now it's the other way round.. StuDoc 72
You tryed changing the actuator? Sounds like it could be sticking.
Matt1878
Or if you have bolted your actuator pin with a nut.., is it too tight and not letting the bolt to pivot? Causing the boost to shoot right up?
Amjad
Rbz had a problem with his TD04 going upto/past 1 bar, chuck him a PM as he modified how his actuator sat. It was at an angle making it boost dodgily lol
Addymk2
Actuator or a vac leak somewhere, I had a vac leak on my CT9 in France from the actuator to the boost controller, tiny split in the hose, boost went through the rough for a millisecond before I crapped it and jumped out. Took ages to find in some crappy French lay by!
