lew777 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 I've got 16x8 rear wheels with 195/45 tyres and have got a nice bit of stretch now the fronts are 16x7.5 so will I get similar stretch if I get 195/40? Thanks Quote
Socks Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 40s would be a massive amount more. Stick with 45s. It's only half an inch difference. Quote
AdamB Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 I don't think the height of the tyre makes any difference to the amount of stretch you get, its all in the width of the tyre. Although if the car is going to be on the deck then the lower profile will help but won't be comfortable by a long shot. Quote

When i had my Fiesta... on 8J 16" escort cosworth wheels The difference between 195/45/16 and 195/40/16 was mad.... WAY more stretch on the 40s Quote
daniel_g Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Yeah there would be a lot more because youve only got 40% of 195 as a sidewall, rather than 45% of 195. Quote

Ct9 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 40 would give you more stretch as it is a shallower tyre, so that stretch at 45mm will be the same at 40mm but as it will be lower and therefore should give you that much more stretch.. It's hard to put it into words but in theory should work. Quote
