Chrishoughton1989
How fast do glanzas actually go. Just a average like all breathing mods, bar boost? Will they even do 130 ? Thanks.
StuDoc 72
Easily. Will do that standard with a speed limit convertor. Edited June 26, 2013 by StuDoc
Chrishoughton1989
Really ? I thought 130 would be a push
StuDoc 72
Nope. They have enough power its more to do with when the gearbox is out of steam. As far as im aware they are good for 160. Someone more clued up on the ratios can be more specific though. Edited June 26, 2013 by StuDoc
Chrishoughton1989
Surely they don't have the power to pull to that.
A L 3 X
I've had 155, then I pooped n backed off
StuDoc 72
Not sure at standard as I've never tried. Put it this way in 5th gear you hit the limiter of 112mph at 5k rpm. Now the car will rev to 7800rpm so you do the math. What difference does it make anyway? Not that its much use to anyone. Unless your in a playground dick measuring contest..... Chrishoughton1989
Na just lot mates got vxrs running 300 Bhp and they do like 155+. Was thinking how I ever going to be near that.
Azz
Standard they will do 135 iirc with the limiter removed. I've been 157mph in mine but I do belive the gearbox maxes at 159mph
Chrishoughton1989
I am shocked. Thanks people.
StuDoc 72
Standard Corsa VXR's will do 150mph. Glanza ive never tried as its anything but stable lol.
bucketep91
I remember reading the boxes are geared to 180mph but fuck doing that in a starlet lol 4paws are geared to 130mph:( which is a bit shit
turbo Grant
I've had 150 out of my old GT when it was Basicly stock.
morgey
I've seen 127mph on satnav speedo was past the end of my clock. Prob around the 135-140 on the speedo area. Car was still going but ran out of track. Thats with 175hp but reckon it would struggle to get much more than 135 satnav speed, which would put it at 145-150 speedoOh and bear in mind mines n/a so dont have the torque of the turbo boys ;) Edited June 26, 2013 by morgey
AdamB
Believe the boxes are geared to like 168'ish, although this varies on drag coefficient, tyre size, wheel size, torque. Will easily hit those sorta speeds on a dyno but in the real world would probably be quite unlikely without a lot of power.
morgey
^^^ yeah thats the biggest factors.I think i read somewhere it takes about 270hp (not sure on what torque) to hit 170mph but thats the limit of our boxes with the stock 7800 limiter and you have to hope both power and torque are still climbing at that point.Edit: thats in general for any car not specific to starlets by the way Edited June 26, 2013 by morgey
Banbury Glanza
I'm running 260bhp and I've had 142mhp on satnav, then shit my pants and let off lol still had some left in her
morgey
If ya want to get all technical theres a equation you can do.Roughly 0.000008702 x drag coeffient x frontal area x desired speed (cubed) Seems an ep91s drag is 0.33 frontal area is hard to judge but they do it for a 288 gto ferrari at 20.5 so you can assume ours is bigger and disired speed of say 170mph So with a frontal area of say 25sqr ft?? Might be a bit big? Lol0.000008702 x .33 x 25 x 170 (cubed) = 352You would need 352whp do to 170mph But for every .5 extra square footage frontal area you need 12whp to do the same speed or the opposite if it were smallerChange the desired speed to 130 mph and you need 157whp This is also out as they did theres for a rwd car and ours are fwd the front area is just a guess as well but you get the ideaInfo from herehttp://www.bobnorwood.com/300%20mph%C2%A0%20The%20Aerodynamics%20of%20Drag%20and%20Power.htm Edited June 26, 2013 by morgey
AdamB
Starlets aren't so good at top speed because they are a short wheel base and become unstable when compared to a car with a larger wheel base. But this does make them good on the twisties, and thats where big balls matter
