AdamB Posted June 26, 2013 Share Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) The locking rings tend to seize solid on coilovers after a period of time. Best thing to do is to soak it in some WD40 for a few hours then try and release them using a C spanner, or knocking them round, even try some heat if you are able to get to some oxyacetylene. You would be better to remove the coilover and put it in a vice (with soft jaws) then smack the bracket until loose. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
daniel_g Posted June 26, 2013 Share Posted June 26, 2013 If you do put it in a vice, which is your best bet, cut up an old rubber car floor mat to protect your coilover from vice teeth. Try and get a hold of paraffin and use that as a lubricant, its a lot better than wd40. And obviously give it some gutty with a deadblow mallet. It should budge then If not then get the blowtorch out. When youre happy with the height give the threads a good paint in copper grease and you can even tie strap a bike tyre tube around them too.
