mattglanza79
Thinking of meshing my turbo. Removeing the air filter. Really how safe is this and what gains if any would I get ?
StuDoc 72
Mines is currently meshed as my airfilter did not fit. It does the job but a filter is always better. Particles small enough to fit through the mesh can get it and do damage as well as water. The benefits being it is less restrictive than an airfilter.
monty1991
my car ran better with an airfilter on the ct9. less boost creep. but could be all in my head lol
Azz
Mesh FTW!!! Even if you loose the tiniest amount of bhp it doesn't matter because of THAT noise .......I ran a td04 and 05 for around 2 years on mesh and now run it on my gtx Edited July 12, 2013 by Azz
AdamB
A filter poses very little restriction these days, imo its mad not to run one, all the dirt and shit that gets in turns into like grinding paste.
daniel_g
On my TD04 i had a layer of mesh, then a layer of cut up HKS filter, then another layer of mesh. It worked really well.I also had a HKS mushroom that i swapped on when it was raining, or when i went up the beach
Weyro
personally i dont like the idea of mesh directly on the inlet of the turbothe intake of a td04 is 22cm2 and if you use a 50% mesh, you are blocking 50% of the inlet which essentially makes it 11cm2 inlet. what i did was make a custom intake box that is a rectangle 15cm x 10cm which is 150cm2, with a 50%mesh this makes it 75cm2 which is over 3x the turbo inlet size, so will pose absolutely no restriction.
