RobSR
Most likely turbo oil seals.. where a bouts is your blow off valve? standard position?
MikeyMoore
i guess its the normal position, left side just above the drives front head light. there is quite abit of oil and smokes abit more then usual on idle from the exhaust
rinseep82
Sounds like exhaust side turbo seals mate take of your inter cooler piping from the turbo and look in there if there's oil it's the seals
MikeyMoore
well its been doing it today, i topped it up yesterday with oil...well a 5 litre bottle of castrol so may of over filled it or may even be a damaged piston ring?
mikey4410
indeed if u overfill the engine oil it will flow very well out of the the turbo and dribble around it and through intercooler pipes for sure
rinseep82
You put a full 5 litre in and there was oil in it already????
MikeyMoore
not a whole 5 litre, but almost whole bottle....my mate said to me the starlet can only take 4 litre's anymore it will over pressure and and push it through the oil seals, can i get this sorted asap or have i basically killed my turbo? :/
rinseep82
I don't even think it's as much as 4 litre mate I'm sure it's only like 2.5 -3 don't start your engine until you have dropped some oil how long have you been running it with that amount in you have way overfilled it I'm surprised its not smoking like a dry fanny
Fozzie
I don't even think it's as much as 4 litre mate I'm sure it's only like 2.5 -3 don't start your engine until you have dropped some oil how long have you been running it with that amount in you have way overfilled it I'm surprised its not smoking like a dry fanny^ This, I'm pretty certain a 5e only takes about 2.8 litres to fill
MikeyMoore
so shall i just drain the oil and put it back in little by little until its at the perfect level? with any luck i have just over pressured and pushed it through the seals
rinseep82
Dump the oil mate car on a flat surface start putting it in 3-4 glugs at a time and keep checking once you see it register on the dipstick it will only take a few more glugs to fill it just poor a little and check clean the dipstick and check again until its at the full line run the engine for a while and check again hopefully you might have got away with it your oil pressure will be in the roof
MikeyMoore
so i use new oil? not the oil i drained?
rinseep82
How long has it been in there and if you drain it into a spotless container and filer it back in with a funnel and a gauz then you can use it again if its still clean and not been in long
MikeyMoore
like a day or two? if not then ill just buy some oil from halfords after work, i will take the top mount off and look through that aswell

H_D
you need 2.8 litres of oil if you change the oil filter and oil together and 2.6 litres if you are only changing the oil
MikeyMoore
totally drained the oil and changed it, out 2.7 litres of oil in, checked the dipstick. just under full and was no smoke
