PaulStarletSR Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Where you live dude??? i live in glasgow lol Is EVERYTHING plugged back onto the inlet mani, I mean ALL vacuum pipes? How tight is the throttle cable? If it's too tight and it's holding the butterfly open even a little bit then air will be passing through it. throttle cables bang on. REMEMBER tho, i completely block the TB an she still doesnt cut out. so the leak is anywhere btween, but not includin, the TB gasket and inlet gasket. Quote

Browner Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Spray some water on the inlet mate and rev the car. Watch for bubbles to indicate where it's leaking. Did you check your idle control valve?Conor Quote

Dan_Henderson Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Spray some water on the inlet mate and rev the car. Watch for bubbles to indicate where it's leaking. Did you check your idle control valve?ConorWhy would it bubble? The inlet will be sucking not blowing Quote
morgey Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 If it makes the turbo spool it will create positive pressure, therefore bubbles Quote

StuDoc 72 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Cover the TB like you have been doing? Then Spray carb cleaner on suspect bits where it could be drawing air and it will cut out when you find the gap. If you cant find it for the life of you i'll come up at somepoint n sort it. Quote

Gtstu Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Are the two water pipes that go to the tb getting hot? i had similar problems and the little metal pipe that comes off the thermo housing that feeds coolant to the wax stat was blocked so the stat stayed open causing the problem , i just cleaned the pipe out and cleared the meatl pipe so coolant can flow to opperate the wax stat causing the car to idle lower. PaulStarletSR Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 they operate as normal mate. its defo an air leak Quote
Charlieep91 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 What are you covering the throttle body with amistad? Quote
Addymk2 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Shove a sponge ball in there to block it, then youve got 2 hands to look for the leak. Quote

Hou Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 You would be better with a plastic bag and tape/rubber band ;) Quote
Addymk2 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Trust me the ball will do the job try breathing through one lol that or a tennis ball! But the plastic bags a good idea, I'd want a strong ass elastic band though incase it gets sucked in! Quote
