EPnick22 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 have heard the sensor needs to be in 36 inches from the turbo? thats an awful far distance, people are saying around 12 inches, would just like someone to shed some light on what is best, and also the best way of feeding the sensor through the car from the dash, what's your opinions? Quote
akyakapotter Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 yep needs to be 36 inches away or you will fry the sensor in no time mine was welded in just behind the gear box Quote
EPnick22 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 cool mate what about the routing for the wires to the dash? Quote
akyakapotter Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I went up behind the gear box and cut the massive grommet open then resealed it Quote
EPnick22 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 i see, I'll have a look when i get the car rebuilt so i know what space i have etc, should be the next few days Quote
TurboTobz Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Behind gearbox mounted slightly above 90 degrees 36" down, pointing toward passengers side, there's a perfect spot make sure you get it right the sensors are expensive, wires up through grommet under passengers carpet, though behind dash. Quote
EPnick22 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 so you have it wired up through the floor in the passenger footwell? Quote
5e colin Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 fit it near the gearbox mount and cover the wire with some protective hose going up then route it tru the fire wall as said above Quote
EPnick22 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 Colin you havnt replied to my last PM about the rods Quote
mikey4410 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 yea just around the gearbox area is perfect, mines been great here and good strong/quick readings Quote
akyakapotter Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 good readings along as you have a decent wideband and dont make the mistake i did and get a CJ-Performance special that brakes within months twice lol Quote
mikey4410 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 i have an innovate one and its great. had one in me last starlet aswell, cant fault them Quote
EPnick22 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 yeah youve told me many times, gunna reply to my fb chat then Mikey or is there still a problem? Quote
TurboTobz Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 so you have it wired up through the floor in the passenger footwell? Yeah, there's a bung there make a slice in it pull it through it keeps things tidier and it's less wires exposed to heat and moving objects around your bay that could potentially cause damage to that expensive wiring loom. Quote
EPnick22 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 I know about the bung in the footwell i just didnt think itd be a very safe place for the loom to go cause of people always getting in and out the car :/ and people always say Id have to be retarded to do it through the floor haha Quote
TurboTobz Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 My loom was fine it never wore down and I always had my mrs in the car with me, its a shorter route and looks to be a mile safer than being near anything else Quote
5e colin Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Colin you havnt replied to my last PM about the rods ???? sorry mate the reminder never came on will have a peep there now Quote
