TurboTobz
Aren't standard ones harmonically balanced? I recall reading of them causing issues
AdamB
Aren't standard ones harmonically balanced? I recall reading of them causing issues Harmonic dampers yes, and yes lightweight ones or more so ones that aren't damper pulleys on the crank can cause more load on the thrust washers, not much of a problem if you replace the bearing shells every so often though. Thats the one, although I wouldn't fancy rebuilding bottom ends for the sake of a shitty pulley, different story if you were doing a race series or something and liked to overhaul every 'x' hours
mattyD
I heard that if there was enough interest in a part that it might be possible to have it made, not sure if that's a true fact and I imagine if it is, it will be very expensive!

I was going to get ATI to make me up a custom lightweight crank damper pulley, but that's something I'll look into when I get closer to building the motor.

Realistically 30k km is not where we'd be hoping to rebuild the bottom end though, I guess it's just a figure to cover ACL's back. Sounds interesting, will make for some good reading when you get updating and into the building side. Best of luck!

I understand what their saying though, I would rather be replacing a set of shells that cost £80 than replacing a crank, especially the genuine 4ET crank which seem to be getting harder to find. Yeah in that context it's a no brainer but when you consider the amount of work to change them then it's a bit of a killer lol.
