Unknown engine

Any of you guys know what this is? He stated it fits starlets, but don't know anything about it. Pls help

its from a yrv turbo although it has a different engine code (vet r) bare block is the same emgine as a 4efte

the vet engine uses a different head and a timing chain instead of belt driven but essentially it is the same engine

same block, crank, pistons etc

Def not the 1st time daihatsu used toyota engines. If I'm not mistaken, 1st gen terios used the same engine too

might be a interesting build as the vet engine uses a vvti head so basically you would have starlet 4e with variable valve lift.

I like the sound of that obvously would need a standalone thpugh

Vvti isn't variable valve lift its only timing advancement, and if its an early vvti engine it will only be on one cam.

What power to these make stock?

do they take the same mods as stock 4efe/4eftes?

if you was to use the YRV vvti head I would imagine it will be different flanges for exhaust manifold and intake manifoldso no,

but if you was to swap the head for a starlet turbo head then all mods would be bolt on yes

quick google search and I found a few pics that may help, if you look closely at pic 1 you can see a 4efte block, pic 3 shows the different head and you can make out bolt holes are different on the flanges

main question mark is if it is a straight fit into the starlet.

I already experienced buying a wrong engine with the 5afe and dont want to go through the same hassle again.

The k3vet has nothing in common with the 4efte, apart from the fact it a 1.3 and turbocharged. I mean the bore and stroke of the engine isnt anywhere near the same. Its got a chain aswell not a belt. So i doubt very much the head off that will fit a 4efte.

The kv3vet is more or less the 1.3 2szfe which is found

in first gen yaris with a turbo slaped on it. So it should be a straight forward bolt in into a yaris.

i have a YRV ( non turbo ) as my run around. its the same engine thats found in the 1.3 Yaris going to go outside and look at the block now to see if it looks the same lol

No that's a zz engine of sorts.

The 3sz has the exhaust on the front of the engine like starlets where as the 4zz 2zz 1zz etc have the inlet on the front like the engine in the last link.
