PWG123
How do you tell if your gearbox has a LSD?I've compared it images on Google but it's not conclusive. Here's my box. Shot of the otherside. Edited January 11, 2014 by PWG123
Kingbx95
I dont think its an oem LSD box. Doesn't appear to have the added casing that the viscous LSD lives in.It's on the drivers side where the shaft comes out the box. Right where u can't see well in the pic.It may well have an after market diff in a standard box though. Have a look through where the driveshafts go, if its standard open diff you will see a bar or pin going across the hole.If your not sure get a pic posted up mateHope that helps Edited January 11, 2014 by Kingbx95
Kingbx95
Also if the green cups are still in the box they will need removing before you can see into the diff. They should tap out using a drift/screwdriver and hammer/mallet without to much bother
PWG123
there's a shot of the other side mate. Edited January 11, 2014 by PWG123
Kingbx95
It's a standard box mateLike I said still could have a aftermarket diff in there. But those driveshaft cups need removing to see inside. They can be a little tight as they have a c clip around the end of the splines inside the box. Just do what I mentioned earlier and have a lookCheers
PWG123
Ok I'll pop it open during the week. Cheers
daniel_g
Spin one cup, if the other one moves the same way then its got a LSD inside.
morgey
Not true for all diffs, Levin LSD's need an input to to lock so that does work. Remove the cups. If there's a 10mm pin/bar across the hole through them then is non LSD if theres anything else then its an LSD of sorts.
daniel_g
You know what i was gonna put 99% of the time in because i guessed someone would say something like that
Kingbx95
Yeh doesn't always work Like that, often does but not always many need input torque to lock up.
PWG123
ok Thanks. Well the only reason I asked is. It pulls into the corners even on power, and I had a friend who had a Glanza and he said the handling was crap, unless they've got a lsd?.But I'll check it. When you turn the cup it slightly engages the other then spins free. cheers Edited January 11, 2014 by PWG123
