seab
Right then folks, I know its Sunday but its brain picking time lol.I have got a new toy (a V) and its cat back exhaust, stock cat, air filter, stock actuator, stuck ECU, stock everything. On Lo boost its behaving I am getting 6Psi, however on high I am getting 13Psi.Its not fuel cutting, but there is NO FCD (I have looked, ECU has no tabs so can only assume its a stock unit.Booted it on the M4 yesterday and ECU light came on (guessing it picked up knock) as I pulled in turned car off and on and light went away. I have changed back to stock air box today and made no difference (thought maybe air filter was causing creep). Now I am down to this list:Actuator sticking (but I am getting Lo boost fine).Dodgy factory boost solenoid (again Lo is working fine).Cracked wastegate. Anyone come across this before I start pulling the car apart?
Zeldoz
You checked behind the dash for FCD? You may be right on wastegate to be fair..
Vturbo
I would go with the actuator, I had this with mine when I first got it.I replaced it with a hks one and it was perfect Edited March 9, 2014 by Vturbo
seab
Def no FCD ive had the dash off to check. I will look at actuator, its odd that the actuator opens and controls 6Psi fine but cannot handle 9psi?
Vturbo
I think the actuators just get weak over time. If your sticking with the ct9 it's a good purchase
Socks
Fuel Cut is what your getting... Fuel Cut will show EML first. then if it keeps boosting higher it will eventually cut and the EML will flash.... Turning the car off and on will get rid of the EML too.... If its on stock airbox and cat. it can ONLY be the weak actuator... HKS actuator. Job Done!
seab
It has an airfilter and alloy intake pipe. But swapped them back yesterday and made no difference. Now I'd have thought weak actuator would have issues holding boost no matter what. As it's behaving on low. Unless the diaphragm is torn/degraded and is weeping boost past it and as a result not opening the wastegate. Christ you wouldn't think I design these for a living lol. Maybe HKS is the way to go. And so the modding begins...........Not fiddling lasted all of 1 day lol
Matt1878
Dont think of it as fiddling.... Think of it as replacing the weaker stock parts for a part that will do a better job.. Its only fiddling if you turn the boost up ;)
aidanep71
Hardly has a jam actuator does it there set for around 1 bar and still have the hi/low feature
seab
Right then. Tried a few things. Bypassed solenoid still 13psiBorrowed a mityvac off a chap in work tonight and pumped the actuator to 9psi wastegate opened held, pumped it to 15 psi held open fine. So doesn't say actuator to me. Any ideas chaps?
