Right guys I bought a mk2 gt turbo on Saturday from rob2.2 some of you may have seen the for sale add. Been driving it all weekend no problems dropped the gf off to work this morning & on way back I think it's started knocking so I drove it home & parked it in my drive way, I have a 4efte now if it is bottom end failure will the crank out of 4efe fit & what else would I need to take of the 4efe to get it running good again? What will I need to do? Never done anything like this before so will have to find someone to do the work as I only have minimal car experience, what should I do to rectify the problem? by the way car is only boosting at 10psi (0.68bar)

Your certainly need a bearing set, maybe crank reground, it's not gonna be a cheap job taking it to a garage that's for sure, but until you strip the bottom end you won't know for sure mate 👍

I've just started it up to send the seller some videos because he knows more about the car than me obviously I know a bit about engines but not massive loads :/ I can't hear the knocking on low revs I'll pop a video up now ok the car just won't rev up at all

there's another video guys. The previous owner said timing related problem. There was a problem with the turbo timer when I turned car off it was fine but as soon as key was out it would make a horrible noise from starter mother as if it's trying to start itself when it was running. What can cause a compression drop :/ hopefully it's nothing too bad & hopefully it's just the timing. Anyone got the relevant specs for compression drop

I'd be interested to know too. Clearly not running on all 4, maybe even just 2 with how lumpy it sounds... Can't see any smoke or mess out the breather so rather than piston problems I'd guess more of a valve problem? Could be as simple as coil pack or king lead lol.
