aleximport25
Rite so I'm running a ct9 with an external wastegate decat fmic but I have no boost controller so I had the ewg connected to the pipe on the turbo housing and it tops 0.3 bar boost at it's best. So I piped it into the standard boost solenoid and on low boost I get 0.7 bar and drops to 0.5 and on high boost I get 0.3 I'm stuck it's baffled everyone I've asked ??Thanks Alex. mr_K
How many ports have you got on your ewg?If you have two try to switch them over.
aleximport25
It has two I read the instructions the bottom one goes to the turbo but if haven't tried swapping them as the instructions said the top one goes to an ebc but I will give that a try thanks mate
mr_K
Okay mate.i had a similar problem to yours on a friends one.if your using a tial wastegate itll be the port on the bottom.. Edited July 5, 2014 by mr_K
aleximport25
It's not a tial mate I just bought a cheap one to get my car running first. But il give it a shot it can't damage anything can it ??
ROTABOOST
Sounds like the wastegate is leaking. Are you running a screamer pipe or is it plumbed back in? If you've got a screamer you should be able to hear it leaking
aleximport25
Yeah I've got a screamer but I've never heard a screamer in the flesh so I don't no mate
Ollieh17
Bet its the metal sealing ring. Does the car sound different at idle than before?
aleximport25
No not really it sound pretty normal mate the only thing I can think is it's the wastegate penny on the turbo as it's not welded it has a bracket that's holding it shut and it's tight no movement. But since fitting the ewg the dump valve sounds different but is that just because I'm not hitting high boost as it's a greedy type s an it used to whistle now it gently dumps ?? I am going td04 or maybe tf035 in the next few months so I didn't fancy having to mess about striping it down
mr_K
Its definatly the wastegate then.the valve inside might not be closing and letting air escape.one more thing the wastegate might be fitted on wrong as they have the same flange.
aleximport25
I see well the sealing ring only goes in one way on the flange with wastegate valve. and the flange with the sealing ring is attached to the manifold.
