H_D
try using a reverse threaded screw extractor if you have already drilled a hole in the broken stud.I had to use on of these on a ct9 that had a snapped stud it worked a treat.
5e colin
tryed al that my friend iit just al fucked up with the reverse thread i stopped before i damaged it to much it got water logged in the threads and turned to wite dust in the threads making it impossible to come out i can still over drill it on fit helicoil
H_D
if reverse thread does not work helicoil is probably the last option.this may have to be done in steps from small to big to get a new thread on there use plenty of wd40 when helcoiling as it makes it easier.see if you can get the same size stud back in after is helicoled or just use a bolt
5e colin
yep thats what i want to do but dont know wich size the oem stud is i have no thread gauge :(
funny onion
I had this problem and eventually a chunk of the head surrounding the bolt crumbled off. Might be worth trying to source another head
5e colin
ooo dont want to do that funny onion its a old ported head where i got new guids fitted to it when i rebuilded the engine 30k ago
funny onion
I see :/ maybe try taking it to a machine shop to get them to remove it? Not sure a helicoil would last forever I think it could be the start of an ongoing problem :/
5e colin
i think a coil be fine my custom turbo kit to ct9 cat is done so the mani wont ever need to come off again :) i still need that thread size Edited August 5, 2014 by 5e colin
