mikey4410
Pretty cool, although starlets have so much room for coolers its rare to see that type of cooler on a starlet
Stu
I ran a water air intercooler on my old EP71 Turbo S years ago as I didn't want to hack then front bumper up to fit a big cooler. Originally I ran it on the 2et then on the 5efte when i upgraded the engine. Went well. One of the tricks is to make sure the echanger water pump is nice and low down so it wont get airlocks and need bleeding.
karl.
Would it be worth while running a dual cooler setup for the chaps with larger turbos? There's plenty of room for one on the cold side pipe running to the inlet.
Stu
The charge coolers are so good these days you shouldnt need to run two. If anything you could fabricate an ice box in the system for drag racing.
wickedep
one charge cooler is plenty mate. Stu do you have a pic of where you mounted your pump? what kinda/brand pump was it?
Stu
I mounted the pump on a bracket under the passenger side chassis rail just forward of the gearbox mount - was pretty much as low as I could get it. Mine was only a cheap setup so I used a factory system from a turbo Subaru Legacy wagon which I think are also called Libertys? I think I paid $60 for the whole setup including some new piping and hose clamps. It was probably 10 years ago at least so don't remember all the details just that charge cooler was over the gearbox. It was really easy to fit from memory, just customised the charge cooler entry pipe and the rest was simple. Originally it was on the 2et engine as I'd made a custom inlet for it that fed like the normal 4e/5e inlets rather than over the rocker cover. I just adjusted the charge cooler to inlet pipe a touch when I went 5efte. Edited August 15, 2014 by Stu
