M.B-glanza
Basically i fear that I've cracked the wastegate on my turbo but havent had chance to remove it yet to investigate... my car is mapped at just over 1bar but recently is only hitting 0.9 and it feels dead laggy... i dont think its a leak because in the past with a leak I've found it still hits the set boost and the drops off (doesnt hold boost) this is actually holding boost at 0.9... any other diagnosis or ideas would be a great helpI've got a spare turbo kit but was just wondering if the tongs hybrid ct9 i have would fit on a standrad ct9 wastage... might sound like a totally stupid question to some but id rather ask and find out what my options are.. always handy for future refrenceMany thanks mark Edited August 18, 2014 by M.B-glanza
Turbo Goose
Ive never heard of a ct9 losing boost pressure due to a cracked wastegate. Pretty sure 90% of them have at least 2 or 3 cracks in them these days. Would say a crack was too small to loose any significant pressure plus the metal would expand when the turbo is up to temperature reducing the crack size even further. M.B-glanza
Any suggestions as to what this issue might be? Im pretty stumped.. theres no smoke from the turbo to suggest any damage to seals and it seams to to spool smooth altho slight more laggy that it used to be wjen it gets over 0.5 bar
Liam_D
100% Won't loose boost pressure because the wastegate is cracked, unless it's externally gated?
russ78
actuator spring is probably stretched and not holding boost properly bud.
M.B-glanza
Its on a hks actuator.. so maybe i should change that? Edited August 21, 2014 by M.B-glanza
white-gt
hi mate ive actually got the same problem.. ive got a speed vision unit running a hks actuator and a mbc at 1bar..let me know if u fix it pal
richardc9052
Why use a manual boost controller on a hks actuator which is already adjustable? They just introduce a small boost leak and cause the actuator to operate inefficiently Edited September 7, 2014 by richardc9052
white-gt
the actuator was giving boost slower than the mbc on the rollers so we fitted the mbc and it made a big difference
