Fao People With Gauges In N/a's

Recommended Posts

As the title says, i'm just after some information regarding gauges. As my car is only a N/A i was just wondering what kinda gauges would work well. I no that there isn't a lot of point in gauges in a N/A but i've been wanting some for a while and now i've finally deciced to go ahead and buy some.

i Just basically want to know is there any that will give me any information that i may need, or is it just down to personal preferance. I've been looking at Oil/Water tempurture etc..

And can any one recommend any decent cheapish gauges.

Thanks in advance for any information

Liam

Cheers for the feedback lads it is apprieaciated.

I already have a Autogauge Monster tacho so i dont need one of them. :) ;)

Think i will give the Oil pressure a miss is this the same thing as oil tempurture though??

So what 2 do people recommend, in terms of easy fitting etc??

Cheers

no it aint the same as oil temp.

and a sandwich plate wouldnt help. where the OEM oil pressure sender is located on the block is quite near the bottom of the block, just above where the block curves out at the base, this makes fitting anything of a larger diameter impossible because it simply gets stuck up against the block. u could have a braided line thats threaded at each end made up (i did and it was rather expensive, but the threads were machined ever so slightly off and it didnt screw into the block) if u know anyone who can do that, one end goes into the OEM oil pressure sender hole in the block, onto the other u screw the new (and in the case of auto gauges, BIGGER) sender.

i went through ALOT of hassle to get mine done and it ended up costin me a fortune in labour, i have been there and tried it! and the guy who did it is a rally specialist, he knows wot he's doin! i know wot im talkin about here folks.

factory water temp useless?? never knew that dude, thats pretty interestin!!!

that method of oil pressure sounds worth a go!!! its handy Liam incase u hit a BIG boulder or speed bumo and rip a hole in your sump, u'll know about it immediatley as the pressure will disappear and u can stop the car ASAP and hopefully save the engine!

Cheers for the comments lads.

That sounds like a good idea, how much to you reckon it will cost in total?? To buy the Sard cooling block and get it all up and running. And is it easy to fit yourself??

And is the Water tempurture easy to fit also??

Sorry for all of these questions but i haven't got a clue about wiring etc..

Cheers

Gonna give the Oil Temp/Pressure thing a miss, as it just seems like to much work to do on a N/A.

I reckon i'm just gonna go for Voltage meter and a air/fuel ratio gauge. As i believe these are simple.

Although thinking about gauges is starting to be a big mistake. :):p

Cheers for all your help though Dub i reall appriaciate it.

Oil Pressure

Oil Temp

Water Temp

There really the only gauges you'll need. You could purchase a wideband but its alot of cash if youre not really going to need it.

Oil is allways worth keeping an eye on though, And water temp just so you know EXACTLY what its running at rather than just looking at a needle on the dash lol

Sard oil filter sandwich plate, with seperate pressure/temp take off adaptors if you need to convert the thread size/pitch..

Im running a sard block, with a tpiece with a blanking plug in the end, and the aem oil temp sensor in the other side.

And threaded into the 1/8th npt thread is the oil pressure sensor.

sorted, no drilling and tapping of the block needed :)

If youre going through the hassle of welding a bung into the exhaust for the air/fuel ratio gauge, then fitting a sandwich plate isnt any bother.

Dont forget, youll have to buy a wideband for proper readings of both rich and lean.

Narrow band is generally what you get if you buy a cheap a/f ratio gauge.

Don't forget i only have a N/A though guys and All this Sounds just too technical to do on a N/A.

Didn't realise an air/fuel ratio gauge was that much work aswell.

Might cancel my order on a gauge pod now as it just seems like a waste of time.

It seems like to only easy one to fit is a Volt Meter.
