patman
I know it's a long shot but does anyone have one laying around they don't use? And want to sell it to me for a good price, obviously need it to get a accurate measurement on the crank journals so I know what size oem bearings I need from toyota, I know there's lots on line but they are pricey so just seing if anyone has a cheap one going needs to be the 0.001 25-50mm onesThanks Pat
morgey
You sure it needs to be 0.001 not 0.01mm 1 thousands of a mm is rediculously accurate even for an engine. If it were an imperial micrometer then 0.001 is fine but thats about 0.025mm in metric terms
patman
Hello mate just going by what's been mentioned in my other thread on here, what advice I been given 👍http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/86453-big-end-and-main-bearing-sizes/?fromsearch=
morgey
Fair enough i stand corrected. I only have anolog mics at work most of which only go down to 0.01 but you can read inbetween with them a bit (inaccurately) and 1 or 2 have 0.001 divisions but not very many. 5e colin
^^^^ i said that morgey it has too be 0.000 otherwise you might aswel be building lego blocks this gives you an idea of how fine tolerances are 5 sizes of bearings are in the " thent " mark so the thousand measurement tels us wich 1 of the 5 to pic STD mark 1 = 1.995-1.999mm STD mark 2 = 1.999-2.003mm STD mark 3 = 2.003-2.007mm STD mark 4 = 2.007-2.011mm STD mark 5 = 2.011-2.015mm Edited October 14, 2014 by 5e colin
