harrystarlet
I've got an OE headgasket on my forged 4e.Pistons are pec 74.5mmI'm concerned that I should of used a larger bore gasket. It runs absolutely spot on though so should I be worried?I'm also going to be running 250+ hp will the OE gasket be good enough or should be change to an athena gasketThanks
maddox710
Don't bother with the oe composite gasket it with just blow. I'd run a stock size athena mls gasket It won't just blow but if it does you'll kick yourself for not putting a mls gasket in place
Sefton-EP91
I would swap to a Athena gasket mate!
maddox710
Also the stroke isn't long enough to interfere with the headgasket
5e colin
oe gasket is very strong1.2/4 i have seen these work how much boost are you planning to run ??
harrystarlet
I'm planning on running 1 bar low boost then high boost setting of about 1.4 bar?
5e colin
thats right at the extreem end its a bit of a gamble if you can afford it then go whit what the boys say a metal gasket if not a oem 1 and limit how often you hit the 1.4 ha ha
harrystarlet
Yeah I reckon it would be best to change it then. I will whip the head off over winter when im not using it much and get a metal gasket on there to be on the safe side. Thanks for the advice guys :-)
AdamB
The gasket bore should be 0.5mm larger than the cylinder bore. You would be pushing the boundaries using OEM gasket 1.4 bar, but that depends how well the head is clamped down.
