patman
Just don't boost it mate I know it's so tempting too but with what you set up is at the moment, you will thank me in the long run, and I'm sure everyone else who sees this will agree too :-)
morgey
Yep get the boost turned down to 0.75-0.8 and remove the fcd. Avoid boost as much as possible otherwise say bye bye to that engine.
cory42
thanks for the help much appreciated, all going well ill remove the fcd later today and drop the boost level
cory42
hi guys, as i haven't managed to get home of a standard actuator yet i had a go at lengthening my one and so far have got the boost down to around 10psi. will this be ok to boost on? thanks
patman
That's absolutely fine cory, now you understand how the adjustable actuator works, you don't need to now go ahead and get a standard one, 10psi is just under 0.7 bar I didn't think you had a boost gauge, so if you haven't mate how are you sure it's only 10psi? Also I want you to look at the fcd in the middle there is like a clock thing on it what setting is the fcd on, this is something we need to know
cory42
yeah i have a boost gauge but its in psi not bar, the fcd is on
patman
I would turn the fcd to 12 mate, so it's basically off, and I bet your can is running lean on setting 8 with no supporting mods.
cory42
so if i turn it to twelve it wont affect the car, ill go do that now thanks patman
patman
It won't mate no it should be now almost back to standard this is a good starting point to do research and slowly build your car back up with more boost, when I had my hks fcd defender on setting 8 my sard fuel pressure regular was showing 2.4 bar on the dial on idle when warmed up (you will have the standard fpr on which is also 2.4 bar) anyway then I had a air/fuel ratio wideband fitted so on full boost (WOT) which means wide open throttle my wideband gauge was showing 16.2 which is way way wayyyy to lean, after putting the hks fcd back to setting 12 on boost my wideband gauge is now showing around 11.5 which is spot on. I hope this all makes sense mate
cory42
yeah that make scene thanks for all the help, ill do some research and up the boost safely.
