Randy McShag Swindon
Just been to test drive the Glanza V im hoping to buy next week.Everything looked fine on it and it ran well with no dodgy smoke or anything like that.I have heard that the fuel filler neck needs something changed on imports, but when i asked if this has been done, the bloke at the garage looked at me strangely. Am i correct in thinking this? If so, has anyone got a piccie of how the fuel filler should look? Its got a headunit in it, but didnt power up. Do i have to fit any adapter to the wiring for it to work properly in the uk? im taking it that it just wasn't connected properly.Everything is still in KPH. how easy is it to change this over. It was really strange not knowing what speed i was doing. Plus i want to change the oddmeter so that it shows proper miles instead of km, dont like it saying over 100,000.Has anyone got a piccie of the engine bay, showing where everything is? I felt blind looking under the bonnet and not knowing where anything was. a bit of info would help, so then i can competently do some bits to the car.Do Glanza's come with a dump valve as standard. Wasn't expecting a dump valve noise when i pulled away. Its not really loud, and cudn't see a dump valve under the bonnet (hence why the above question is important). The rear seat mountings are crap and the seat back and bottom virtually lift out. Are the catches easy to fix as i have got a baby on the way and want to be able to fit baby seat on back but dont wanna do that on seats like that.Do Glanza's come with a 3 point rear strut brace (i.e mounts to both struts and to floor) as standard? the bloke at garage reckoned so.I have heard bout a switch on dash to switch between hi/low boost levels, has anyone got a pic of where on dash this is?Sorry for waffling. Just feel more of a noob than ever before. Im usually semi-decent with cars, but this is my first import and first turbo'd car so im on a huge learning curve.Any help people can through at me would be ace. WallaceGlanza
I have heard that the fuel filler neck needs something changed on imports, but when i asked if this has been done, the bloke at the garage looked at me strangely. Am i correct in thinking this? If so, has anyone got a piccie of how the fuel filler should look? Not on glanza's no, it doesnt need changed. Its got a headunit in it, but didnt power up. Do i have to fit any adapter to the wiring for it to work properly in the uk? im taking it that it just wasn't connected properly. You'll need a band expander for the radio to pick up uk stations but it should stil turn on.Everything is still in KPH. how easy is it to change this over. It was really strange not knowing what speed i was doing. Plus i want to change the oddmeter so that it shows proper miles instead of km, dont like it saying over 100,000.You can buy speedo converters off ebay, a good importer would fit it for you. You'll have to clock the oddometer to get it back in miles which could damage it, just take note of the reading in km then once its converted it will count up in miles.Has anyone got a piccie of the engine bay, showing where everything is? I felt blind looking under the bonnet and not knowing where anything was. a bit of info would help, so then i can competently do some bits to the car.Its kinda hard to throw up a picture and label exactly where everything is, when you need to do something just ask about that specific bit.Do Glanza's come with a dump valve as standard. Wasn't expecting a dump valve noise when i pulled away. Its not really loud, and cudn't see a dump valve under the bonnet (hence why the above question is important). They come with a recirculating valve which you won't hear unless it has an open air filter fitted. The rear seat mountings are crap and the seat back and bottom virtually lift out. Are the catches easy to fix as i have got a baby on the way and want to be able to fit baby seat on back but dont wanna do that on seats like that. There should be metal clips that go into plastic ones on the floor, they're maybe just not lined up properly.Do Glanza's come with a 3 point rear strut brace (i.e mounts to both struts and to floor) as standard? the bloke at garage reckoned so.Yes, but it was an optional extra, it should say starlet on it.I have heard bout a switch on dash to switch between hi/low boost levels, has anyone got a pic of where on dash this is?They do unless its a poverty version, on the 96/97 model its on the centre console next to the hazard light switch, on the 98/99 model its on the right of the steering wheel, it has lo written on it. When the car is in low boost the 4th green led in the centre of the rev counter will be lit up.Phew, hope that helps, welcome to the site.
Randy McShag Swindon
Yeah sorry bout that being an essay, like i said feel like a complete confused noob. That helps. It has a cone induction filter, would this be why the dump valve was making a noise? I think the catches on the seats are knackered as i tried pushing the seats into the clips, but they just lifted back out again. and yes the strut brace did have starlet on it.
