harrystarlet
I'm now putting a td04L setup on with external wastegate with a .8 spring in which I will have to change. But what spring should I get for it as I need to get it all ready to go to be mapped. Spec list.Forged engine (pec pistons and rods)Wepr manifold tial external wastegate and screamer pipeTd04L turboSard fprWalbro 255 fuel pump Front mount intercooler 2.5 inch exhaust system Greddy profec 2 boost controllerGreddy emanage blue.Opinions on what boost I should be aiming to run? And what spring I should have in the wastegate? Or anything else I need to be doing. Thanks in advance Harry
daniel_g
Id run a 1bar spring for daily use, and wack it up with your greddy ebc to say 1.4bar for blasting around.
funny onion
I'd run 1.1 bar daily and 1.4 bar scramble for lols. personal preference really. I would aim for a 1 bar spring in the wastegate and use your ebc to fine tune it to the desired boost. the ebc is much more accurate than purely running off spring pressure and you should also see some better power curves etc when using electronic actuation vs spring pressure. Might want to look into gain values etc on the ebc to get the best out of it. never ran a pbs2 so can't advise on setting it up.
Matt1878
For more than 1 bar you will need to upgrade your injectors.. Once you have done that I would run 1 bar daily and then have a setting on the EBC for 1.4bar
harrystarlet
Thanks all for your advice :-) I really wasn't sure how much I could push my setup, but with 3 of you saying the same thing i must be going the right way for some good power :-) what injectors do you think I should get? Without spending a fortune on them...
daniel_g
Lots of injectors in here if this link works.http://stores.ebay.co.uk/performancefuelinjection/Toyota-Injectors-/_i.html?_fsub=6213047014For 1.4bar TD04 the 480cc should be about right i think, and that shouldnt be running them at their max either. harrystarlet
Thank you :-) also will my excedy organic clutch be able to cope with the power for now? I will upgrade it and a lightened flywheel in the future but can't afford it yet
_shaun_
if its a forged engine id just get a set of 420-480cc injectors and give it to the mapper tell them to keep pushing it till it stops making power. 1.4 bar does seem a waste of a forged engine. i ran 1.3bar on a stock engine with no bother. but its a personal prefrence am a firm belieiver theres no point forging the engine unless your going to push it

Depends on your driving style how long it will last, id kill it in half an hour lol.if its a forged engine id just get a set of 420-480cc injectors and give it to the mapper tell them to keep pushing it till it stops making power. 1.4 bar does seem a waste of a forged engine. i ran 1.3bar on a stock engine with no bother. but its a personal prefrence am a firm belieiver theres no point forging the engine unless your going to push itYeah but we arent all as hardcore as you Shaun! I do agree, may aswell push it after spending out on forging! Just reckon 1.4bar is about the top end of a standard TD04 though.Personally id choose a BB VF turbo on a forged build, no where near the price of a Garrett, yet most will do 300bhp+ and still spool fairly quick But thats a whole other topic
_shaun_
ha the fine line between hardcore and an idoit is wether or not my engine explodes! so we shall find out in due course which i am ha!
harrystarlet
Thanks for the advice people, I will get myself some injectors sorted then... and then get it into the mappers and see how I get on. I will be happy with 250 hp anymore will be a bonus :-) then I will sort a clutch out afterwards and an lsd as getting traction could be interesting without one haha
RobSR
You won't need to change your wastegate spring if you want to go up to 1.4/1.5 bar. As a loose rule of thumb you can run up to double spring pressure with your ebc so that'll all be ok to 1.6.Like said 440 injectors will be required.
harrystarlet
Cool thanks Rob I will stick with the spring that's in it then :-). I guess I can get 440 injectors that are a direct fit without having to change anything
