  1. If only I knew a good engine builder locally.... I can probably borrow a car in the short term while I decide what's going on!
  2. Just looking into rebuild options, and to what extent of a rebuild? Just repair the one cylinder? Get it back on the road.... Or full rebuild. It had a full rebuild about 7 years ago, I've got a 1k+ invoice from Toyota genuine parts for all the bits (assuming the owner at the time had it built!!).
  3. What is it worth for the whole car? Engine down on compression on cylinder 3, currently runs fine...So I am just weighing up my options at the moment. So: EP82 Quadlight 1994 (Black) Mileage - 128,000ish (Mix of miles and K's) First point - Compression Test - 150psi on cylinders 1,2 and 4. Cylinder 3 has 90psi. Spec - Turbotechnics CT9 Hybrid HKS adjustable actuator FMIC Zisco manifold AFPR HKS Fuel cut defender HKS Electronic valve control Apexi power intake with hard pipe(relocation kit) 2.5" custom stainless exhaust system - cat still fitted New flywheel and Ex
  4. Test (psi) Cylinder 1- 150 Cylinder 2- 150 Cylinder 3- 90 Cylinder 4- 150 :-(
  5. Yeh, will do mate. Doing the compression test shortly, will report back with a clean sweep of healthy readings later ha!
  6. Either 0.75 or 0.95 bar, depends what setting it's on - CT9 Hybrid set up. Mainly run it on 0.75.
  7. All back together and cleaned out... Gained 200rpm on idle, no smoke, no oil coming out the breather.... Took it for a drive, pulled over to check - no smoke, or oil...... Got home and checked again.... Smoke and oil present again, bollocks!!! Thought I had solved it. :-(
  8. First thing to note was the PCV wasn't moving, now it 'rattles' when I shake it... So it may have been stuck closed. Valve is definitely opening and closing now I have cleaned it out. (I don't have a new one available).
  9. Compression test tomorrow. Currently taking the PCV, breathers, catch can out to check it all as a first port of call!
  10. Removed the dip stick, no change in idle. However smoke came out of the dipstick tube. I also I unscrewed the oil cap, which I had to hold down otherwise it would have blown off... Definitely excessive pressure in there!
  11. I'm hoping it is something simple. I will check compression at the weekend. I am going to check the PCV, breathers etc later as I'm pretty sure if they are blocked, that would cause the pressure to build and come out of the breather filter in excessive fashion!
  12. Hello All, Looking for opinions and advice if possible.... My car has always had a rough idle, but now it has got pretty bad, struggling around 500rpm... Also it struggles to start... There is also a strong exhaust like smell when running... Worse than usual anyway. One thing I noticed was a bit of smoke coming out of the mini breather filter on the rocker cover a couple of days ago... Then I checked today and there are blobs of oil and spray on the rocker cover, and oil pooling in the rubber seals of the HT leads either side of the filter... Car drives ok though when I'm mov
  13. Pointed it out to them, now it has passed. Cheers for the info chaps!
  14. Did some digging through receipts and found this... This is last test from the previous owner. Job's a gooden, this should be all the ammo I need.
  15. Thanks for that. Mine is an L reg, which covers August 93 to the end of July 94. It is a quadlight which apparently were released in May 94. So I would say that is the one!! With that in mind, it should just be a basic test then!
  16. I can adjust the fuel pressure to get it through if it was borderline, as that might sort it. But I just wanted to avoid unnecessary changes. I will know more tomorrow.
  17. I don't have a copy, they still have the car at the moment. The only thing he mentioned was that it only just failed on CO. So before we start changing stuff, I wanted to check if the basic test applies to it.
  18. Hello All, My EP82 has just failed it's emissions... I came on here to research it and I think it turns out that my car isn't subject to the full test? Now my question is, they will have to be testing it against something, and surely what they have isn't a 4E-FTE? Unless it is now a registered UK engine?!! Mine is 1994, so according to the MOT handbook, it only needs a basic test if they can't identify the engine. Any others had this happen to them, where they have been failed, then had to dig out a handbook and throw it in their face? I just want to make sure I have my facts ri
  19. It has just failed it's MOT on emissions...... Now I am trying to understand the ins and out of what type of test it qualifies for!!!!
  20. Sweet. We shall make Lea 'Border Control'. :-)
  21. Yep, definitely you then! I flashed my brake lights afterwards. Hi! :-) I have a friend in Gainsborough, just a few miles from where we saw each other, so was popping over there. Should I short a visa for next time I pass through? ;-p
  22. Last night, GT turbo near Gainsborough, in a place called Lea (I think). We drove past each other about 9pm. It was a little too dark to make out the colour. Any takers?
  23. Cool. I bet there are various experiences with them. The one I fitted was the Exedy - Stage 1 Organic, fast road clutch. Should be fine for me. I don't intend to go big power with it.
  24. It seemed like the Stage 2 would handle a lot, as it did feel really nice, just a shame what happened to it. Otherwise I couldn't fault it. Maybe I was just unlucky with a dud part.... The Exedy feels great too... But only thought it would handle 200bhp-ish? I'm only on CT9 hybrid setup, so it is perfect for me.
