got a 5afe with a/t from a corolla L-touring wagon (ae10? ) thinking it was a 5efe(other than similar cc and bhp they look physically similar too). does the starlet need many modifications to fit the a-series block in place?

i have a 5afe which i am swappnig in a few months time in my NP90. From what i heard, you only need to make minor adjustments like mountings. 5-and 7-a motors have the same bottom end I suppose

it is a 5Afe it turned out. still an enormous improvement over the 1N though. JDM corollas had it as Daniel correctly stated; the rolla it was removed from is in fact a Japan import. So is my starlet. I dont remember diesel starlets sold new in Europe

Hi, I bought a 5efe w/auto for my 1998 NP90(currently running a 1N). I have a problem regarding the ECU he gave me with the motor. It says '5A-FE 4A/T' Now, I presume that it is for a 5a-fe not 5e-fe and 4a/t probably refers to 4spd auto transmission. Engine was removed from a Corolla L-touring wagon. I googled its number, 89661-1E020, and found out that that particular ECU was used for the AE110 sprinter and trueno. Is it possible that both engines used the same ecu? Thanks for your help

Hi I recently took over my wife's 1998 reflet 3 door. She bought it as a japan import in 2003 and was her daily workhorse since. It currently runs a 1n. I am upgrading her, starting from the interior. So far, I swapped glanza front seats, door cards and power windows and changed plastic bits from light un dark gray, those which I could find. Next in line is to finish off the rest of interior plastics, install central locking, glanza or Sr cluster and power mirrors Once interior Is sorted, will proceed to tidy the bodywork from 10 years of daily use, most notably the bumpers and the dent riddled drivers door. Already replaced the damaged hood with a vented one which I grabbed for a bargain.

Great looking car. I have a reflet with the slow but reliable 1n. I also want to swap a 5efe. Will keep an eye on here

What came as standard with that trim?

I have a reflet, ie a Japan import cheapest spec which I am upgrading. Want to swap a glanza cluster, but from what I read here, is a sportif one easier to fit? Imp thing for me is uIau Iu got a rev counter. Will consider both options

Tried to fit glanza seats in my reflet, but rails seemed somehow shorter than the reflet standard seat rails. I found it strange since such swaps are common here
