  1. cant complain with clarion 10cm fronts and late 80s/early 90s pioneer 20cm at the back. Other than the latter blending perfectly with the starlets interior

  3. mine runs a 1n(which is no faster than a bicycle pushed by lance armstrong without snorting coke!) i intended to swap a 5efe. I don't want turbo, I'm not after aweseome power, just some fun on the road. Was looking at 140-150ish from a 5efe Mistakingly, i bought a 5afe instead(they look almost identical, other than identical cc and bhp) and 5efe's are somewhat hard to find. on the other hand the 4 is quite common. What do you think of -rebore block -polish, port and skimming cylinder head -1.4vvti inlet manifold 4-2-1 exhaust manifold -wide exhaust

  6. Just making new mounts is not something you should loose any sleep on. What I'm concerned about is if you need to make cutting and tearing in the car's metal, relocating things like battery, substituting driveshafts and radiator and other things that may find themselves in the way of the new motor. Gearbox I have with the engine. As for loom I'm not concerned either since currently car runs a 1N and therefore has to be changed anyway.
  7. got a 5afe with a/t from a corolla L-touring wagon (ae10? ) thinking it was a 5efe(other than similar cc and bhp they look physically similar too). does the starlet need many modifications to fit the a-series block in place?
  8. i have a 5afe which i am swappnig in a few months time in my NP90. From what i heard, you only need to make minor adjustments like mountings. 5-and 7-a motors have the same bottom end I suppose
  9. it is a 5Afe it turned out. still an enormous improvement over the 1N though. JDM corollas had it as Daniel correctly stated; the rolla it was removed from is in fact a Japan import. So is my starlet. I dont remember diesel starlets sold new in Europe

    5efe ECU

    Hi, I bought a 5efe w/auto for my 1998 NP90(currently running a 1N). I have a problem regarding the ECU he gave me with the motor. It says '5A-FE 4A/T' Now, I presume that it is for a 5a-fe not 5e-fe and 4a/t probably refers to 4spd auto transmission. Engine was removed from a Corolla L-touring wagon. I googled its number, 89661-1E020, and found out that that particular ECU was used for the AE110 sprinter and trueno. Is it possible that both engines used the same ecu? Thanks for your help
