  1. My car backfires if I short shift just as the vvt is about to cut over n then get back on it :D

A got a mate with an evo thats been mapped to backfire, went past a usaf base the other week and watched half the gaurds duck for cover, fucking pissed myself haha

  2. I just gave mine a refurb as one of the sliders had siezed, got a rebuild kit from camskills (£55 for two sets/each side) as a couple of the gaitors had torn meaning sh*t could get it and made the caliper rust around the one of the pins, I used some fine sandpaper wrapped around a stick in a drill to clean them on.

Once its all cleaned use plenty of high temp grease/copper slip on the two sliders and work them back and forth for a bit.

If you lift the gaitor for the piston gently with a small flatblade you can look to see if its rusty or wet it should be clean and dry , if it is be prepared to remove it and give it a clean up with some scotchbright or whatever is called. If its ok but the gaitors split, u can remove the gaitor by removing the spring clip holding the gaitor to the caliper its tucked in there but it is there. Once thats out u should be able to replace the gaitor with piston inplace.

    Hope that helps abit

  3. cheers for the help man apprechiate it :)

ran a Dns flush, no different

plugged into the LAN still no better.

Im not very IT literate at all tbh and as its my rents internet i dont want to go mucking around with too many settings and then stopping the main house computer from being able to access various websites, because at the moment that isn't affected :s

im not sure if setting a manual DNS will affect the operation of the LAN network or if it will just be a personal setting for my laptop?

going to try the malwarebytes software now see if that helps

  4. i was just wondering how people cover up their URL's on there build threads in theirs sig's etc?

    so rather than having

    http://www.ukstarlet...opic=8661&st=45

i can have click HERE or whatever.

but obviously with the previous link embedded in it or whatever it's called

also anybody any good with laptops on not loading some webpages

    running windows 7

on my home wifi i cant load some pages, ebay wont load at all uksc wont load straight away until i click diagnose then cancel it.

and most web pages take two or three attempts to work and google images crashes after about 30sec's

for the time being I've been using my phone on the same wifi which works fine!

using the diagnosis that IE offers it comes up with this

6 Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)

    Detected

The device or resource is not responding to requests.

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

    • Internet connectivity has been lost.
    • The website is temporarily unavailable.
    • The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
    • The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
    • There might be a typing error in the address.
    • If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

I've tried running through a load of steps on a couple of websites but nothing seems to work, just cba to reboot the whole thing or take it to a pc repair place and get mugged off lol

  5. 7age isn't worth the hassle from what I've gathered less revability of the 4age with slight torque gains, plus to do it propperly you need a porsche 922 cambelt or something like that and that puts the cam gears out slightly so then pulleys are needed. then an ecu is needed.

stick a 20v bt 4age in it and have a 160hp and 120lbft ready and waiting with out any of the other hassles :(

  6. I dont get where everyone gets the "VAG is soooo reliablez" from either, any we've had in the work have been piles of shit, we dread working on them lol.

im so glad someone else has finally mentioned this whole VAG reliablity thing. from my own experience i think there a pile of sh*t a good 6-8 of my friend own or have owned VAG's and they've been nothing but trouble. egr valves, thermostats and there housings, head gaskets, water pipes perishing, eating through brakes, wheel bearings, aircon pumps the list is endless.

and not a single one of the cars is older than 8 years old and has less miles than my 1.4 corolla and almost all of them have spent more on repairing their cars than i did buying and keeping it going for the last 2 1/2 years.

then when you bring it up they just say oh its the dub way WTF!!!

    anyway rant over :(

  7. Im looking into doing this, if its NI its fine insure it and just bring in back and for £55 approx u can reregister it in england, but if its from the rep of ire then its gota be propperly imported and SVA'd etc which I've no idea how to go about it.

A load of info on this can be found on the direct.gov website ;)

  8. Not a 7afe no, the newer 2zzge engine from the 190hp gen 7 celica has been put in one tho.

I could fit a 7afe in mine now if I wanted to as I have a 4age in it, and since its an 'a' series it should now bolt in.

I dont see what you would achieve from a 7afe tho there what 130-40hp?? just 4efte it and you would have that power alot easier and cheaper :)
