Hi guys. Just in the process of swapping my engine and gearbox and was wondering what's the best oil to use for gearbox/lsd? I'm assuming the diff uses different oil to what the gearbox takes. What does everybody else use/recommend?

If you're still looking for tyres then I can't recommend hancook ventus v12s enough. Those things are immense.
-
A few people I know run their motors with the cams from a n/a engine. It gives them more low-mid power and really brings them alive. That might be worth a shot for you.
-
The engine is a TD unit apparently either of the oils above are fine. Thanks

I'm going to be doing an engine swap in the coming weeks and I'm just getting together the final bits for the job. Which grade oil is best for mainly road use but with the potential track day every so often. It's a fully forged 4efte which will be tuned to make around 220bhp. Am I better off with fully or semi synthetic oil? Also 5/30, 10/40 etc...these all mean nothing to me. What is recommended and what are you all using?
Thanks

Jazz a is meant to be Jezza...effing auto correct!

I ordered a set of poly mounts for engine and gear box. On Friday evening and they were sat at home waiting for me on Monday evening when I got home from work. Excellent service and jazz a is a pleasure to deal with. The mounts look sturdy as well and can't wait to fit them. Would recommend the company to everyone and will definitely be using again for other parts.

I'm running a cusco lad on my v and although it makes some soise while using on the road, overall it's an effective bit of kit when you fancy doing some enthusiastic driving. Best mod I've done by far.

Gearbox whines anyway with cusco diff. Its going to be a noisy harsh slug house when ive finished 🙈
-
Fuck it...race car. Polys all round it is. If i dont like it then just buy softer ones 👍

Away makes sense. So what's the difference in feel between a 70 and 65 realistically? Also, what's the price of the JD tuning ones? Are they even in production?
-
50shore? Means nothing to me...explain please.
-
My main concern is that the car is already really firm and rattles like crazy with standard tired mounts. I've just recently discovered JD tuning are developing some softer poly mounts.

You could have the answer to the problem in my thread.

I use a full set of TRD mounts and they're nice. Ultimately though, they are still rubber so they'll still degrade. I think most people poly the rearmost mount and leave the other two rubber for the best balance.
This is what I've been recommended. Just polybush the rear and leave the front as they are.

This is what I was going to do, but I've been told by a few that it will be an absolute pic of a ride. Most are recommending to just do the gearbox mounts. Have you changed yours?

Morning guys.
I'm not sure if this in the right place or if there is a topic already that could help me but...in the next few weeks I will be swapping out my blown engine and fitting a nice shiny forged engine in its place. At the same time I was thinking on changing the mounts to the poly bush type. Now here's my problem...which mounts do I want to change? I was going to do engine and gearbox mounts but I've been told that it will be too harsh and rattle the car to bits, other people say it's fine. Then I've also been told just doing gear box mounts tightens everything up but doesn't rattle your fillings out.
What would people recommend? My car is already really firm and has a full roll cage, upgraded ARBs and all sorts and is basically a road legal go cart.
Any help or input is appreciated.

Where u from pal? What are the tyres like? Would be good as a set of winter wheels.
Oops just seen essex haha

Any car with any power will always benefit from a LSD. They completely change that characteristics of the car. I'm running around the 220 mark with a cusco diff. Best thing I've ever bought.

Is the forged engine still available mate?
-
If I can...where do I enter the code? On cyberspeed website? Do I just put it in the notes section?
-
Can I still use this discount code for some nice new coilies?

That bonnet is mega!!!

If it makes any difference, the diff is a cusco unit and will be used for mainly fast road with the odd track day.
