I've got a master cylinder brace thing in the engine bay, racing fluid and braided lines already. Just need some decent rotors and pads as mine are just dangerous now!

You use these yourself? Do u have grooved or standard?

Hi all. Ive just bought myself my very 1st glanza. The brakes are pretty shit and could do with upgrading or replacing pretty quickly. I don't fancy doing a big brake upgrade yet. Just after a decent set of disks and pads that are good for fast road and the occasional track day. Any recommendations?

Is he still a member on here? Id like to talk with him if possible. Do you know if he bought the car with the mods or if he did it himself?

No...I just filled it up and it started bubbling. Today when I checked through the rad cap, it was empty again. Is there a bleed valve to make things easier? Tomorrow I'm taking it into work and one of the techs is going to get it up on the ramp and give it a good once over. How easy are the thermostats to change on them?

I'm in the same situation. Got a starlet and apparently its got a forged engine. What oil should I be using. Also I have a catch tank and oil cooler fitted? Do I have to do anything different when draining/filling the oil?

Dont go jumping to assumptions too soon. I have a feeling its just a shitty thermostat.

That's baffled me too. The oil cap wasn't as tight as what it could of been and there was a ted on top of the engine. Before I set off I checked and there was plenty of oil in. I've not noticed any wet patches underneath or signs of oil and surely it cant of burnt all its oil in 170 miles. It only used just over half a tank of fuel! Baffled. Im going to change the stat on it and flush out all fluids and start a fresh.

Thank you all. As I said earlier...this is my 1st starlet and its not started off as well as what I was hoping. Is there anything else I should look out for on them? Any advice is good advice.

Im not sure how accurate 220 is. I think thats abit inflated...but if it was abit poorly on the way back this could of effected something. Certainly doesnt feel 220 anyway I dont think.

Im going to completely flush the system 1st. When I get time. Hopefully it should be right. As soon as I noticed the temp spike up, I immediately pulled over so hopefully it hasnt done too much damage.

Hi. Yeah I bought the one in the pic from a fella in scotland. All in all, the car is in pretty good nick and has had alot of money spent on it with every receipt. The car does need abit of a spruce up and im more than prepared to spend on it...I just wasnt expecting to have this amount of trouble already. But owel, these things are sent to test us.

Hi guys. Im a newby here so I apologise if I sound abit thick. Yesterday I picked up my 1st glanza. 170 miles into the maiden voyage home I noticed that all of a sudden the temp dropped on the heater to blowing cold air on any setting and the temp guage shot straight up to almost very top. As soon as I noticed I immediately pulled over and switched the engine off. The recovery guy told me "its probably just your thermostat as they are shit on these" however, when I've come to check it today, I've noticed there's hardly any oil in the engine and the radiator was bone dry. I've topped up the oil and filled the radiator and fired it up without the cap on the radiator. At idle its fine but under load it bubbles straight away. Could this be a blown head gasket? That's the only sign there is so far. No mayo, no white smoke or signs of water out of the exhaust, just bubbles. I've not done a compression test yet or a sniff check. What's your thoughts? What do I need to look for and where? Any help is greatly appreciated. Rob.

As the title says...just popped my glanza cherry and so far, its been awful. 170 miles after picking it up yesterday I've already blown the head gasket. Pi$$d off is an understatement.
