  1. hi mate they've never had any complaints from valets they've done before, so they say However i've been trying to find customer reviews on the website but nothing at all
  2. Hello all I don't this may sound a bit stupid and over conscious. I've got my car booked in a garage for full valet including full bodywork wax. They've told me the job will take around 3-4 hours to do. However due to health and safety reasons i won't be allowed into the garage area and that the valeting area isn't visible from the waiting room. I'm a bit weary as in the past i've been able to view my car when it is being valeted but this is normally because it is viewable from where i am waiting. My concern is when the car is valeted and i get back to it, what if i find things have gone missing or replaced on the car. I'm only saying this as i've got some expensive parts on the car and they can easily be taking off and replaced with lower quality parts of parts that don't even work properly. Scenario - I get into the garage with the Glanza, employee or owner calls mate with abused Glanza and comes over, parts are replaced from my between the two cars (even something like a gearbox can easily be done in the 3-4 hours). I get back to my car to find it has been valeted but upon driving it i find it's an absolute dog and upon further inspection find out parts need to be replaced and parts have been changed. I take car back to valeting garage and they completely deny everything. I know such a scenario is uncommon but i have heard of it being done before. If such a thing does happen what can i do legally, do i need to contact the police, my lawyer, trading standards etc. I am thinking of taking a camcorder and recording everything i have on the car, although some parts won't be accessible by camcorder. I am also going to keep my key with me whilst they are doing it, but they've told me they need access to the interior and exterior of the car at the same time. Apologies if it sounds a bit too concerning. I can take it too another place but this garage has a good offer on the at moment and they've told me that they've done many cars without any complaints. Although most of these may be the common cars you see on the roads. Any info much appreciated.
  3. hi mate who are you insured with i've just read my car insurance documents and on the initial letter it states Cover type - Private Car Hence why i think that message is coming up on Askmid The certificate is fine as it states the full make and model of my car and states its an import It's upto the insurance company to change this as that feeds into what the Askmid website will state when you insert you registration plate. I will give them a ring tomorrow.
  4. Hello all I renewed my car insurance with the same company around 2 weeks ago and decided to check on askmid to see if it came up. Upon inserting my registration number the vehicle make/model comes up as:- DUMP CODE PRIVATE CAR GROUP 001 What does this mean? I've had a look on Google for any similar cases and some owners of classic cars and kit cars have had the same make and model come up. Mine is 15 years old (P reg) and an import. Anybody else had this come up or any idea what it means? How do i sort it out? Thanks
  5. As i said as soon as i put the cat back on (for MOT) the eml goes off i thought that was a common thing as it's the same with other jap import cars too
  6. hi mat Due to my car running a decat the engine management light is always on anyway, but it does'nt make a difference as to how the car drives. As soon as i take this off for MOT purposes the light goes off. Hence i won't be able to tell if the cable has snapped or not
  7. Hello all On my way back from work today and had around 3 miles to go from my house when all of a sudden the speedo stopped working and dropped down to 0mph whilst i was driving. The car is an import and has been converted from kph to mph. I've had a look at the wiring for the VSS and it sees fine, there is nothing loose? Everything else works fine such as the revs, temp, odometer etc What could the problem be? Also is this something an electrician could fix? As a result of the speedo not working, does this that the turbo won't engage as i've read on other forums that if there is a fault with the speedo then the turbo won't engage, but i thought turbo engaged when you took it above the relevant revs? Any info much appreciated Many thanks
  8. Any other suggestions?
  9. Thanks for you replies However do you have the same situation as the noise going away after taking a few turns of it is constant on each turn. Like i said its confusing as after 4 left turns the noise suddenly almost goes away or is a quieter depending on how quickly i take a left turn. Is it something to do with metal retracting to its normal position?
  10. Hello all For the past couple of weeks i've been getting a metallic screeching noise when i turn left (even on a three point turn) and is very annoying. However it seems to do this loudly when i start my car set off and do the first 4 turns (get some funny looks from people i go past) and then quietens down (whic is puzzling) after this if i take any left turns slowly then there is no more noise but if i take say a left turn at around 30mph (i.e curved road) then it can still be heard but seems to be quieter that when i start initially driving. I'm very puzzled by this as to 1. What it can be, i've had it inspected by the garage fully on the ramps and they cant find anything at all, plus when i take it there the noise mainly gone and the test drive doesn't show anything? 2. Why does it happen for the first 4 left turns and then goes away, however if i set off driving again after say a couple of hours the noise comes back again for the 4 left turns and quietens down again. Surely if something is catching or rubbing it should constantly be doing it, i've asked around and nobody seems to have an answer. The brake shields don't seem to be touching. Any info or advice from the experts on here would be very much appreciated. Many thanks
  11. hi mate it is landlord home insurance i.e. property that i've let you.
  12. Hello all For the past couple of years i've been letting my house out and had it insured through Sheila's Wheels on a Landlord policy. However i received a letter today stating that they will no longer be able to insure me and i have to go with someone else. I then decided to give them a ring and they told me that they have never offered Landlord home insurance, which absolutely confused me as i've been insured with them on this policy for the past couple of years and have the paperwork to prove it. I mentioned this to them and once again they said they've never offered it. If this is the case, then i'm wanting to get my cash back for the past couple of years which is around £450 in total. Reason for this being that even though i've paid this the policy for the past couple of years in reality has been invalid and therefore if i had to make a claim they would just say sorry but we don't ever offer landlord insurance and therefore unable to do anything and this was an error on the system. If anyone has any advice or legal info they could offer please let me know as i'm going to get back in touch with them. Many thanks
  13. hi mate I'm i right in stating that the professional paint renovator is the polish as they don't seem to do a polish? Also is it necessary to buy that waffle pad or can car bodywork cleaning clothes be used instead? thanks
  14. Hello all Recently been looking into other car cleaning and maintenance products and have heard good stuff about the G3 product range. It's sold in most car places and also has a website (www.g3pro.com) Just wondering if anyone else uses this product range and what is your feedback on it, i've been told that its just as good as or even better than the Autoglym range. Thanks
  15. hi mate it's not too loud, but the point you have could be a good one as i also though it may also be this. I have a modified exhaust system which includes running a decat and different back box. However wouldn't it be more of a metallic clunking noise if it was the exhaust?
  16. Hello all My car recently had it's MOT test and the only thing it failed on was the rear shockers which i had replaced with new shockers. However prior to this i used to get a clunking noise from the rear when i went over bumps even slight ones, i thought the problem would be the shockers but the clunking is still there. The car is lowered by 30mm with uprated shockers. I have the same shockers and lowering on the front too but that all sounds fine. With regards to the anti roll bar, i know that this is inspected and mine was fine, however are the anti roll bar bushes and rubbers also inspected. I was told that these are fine too and we've had the car up on the ramp 3 times now but can't find anything at all and all seems good with regards to the suspension and condition of all suspension components. Any info much appreciated as to whether or not anti roll bar bushes and rubbers are inspected or not and what the problem could be. I've been told it may just be how the car is set up and it's just normal. Many thanks
  17. Hello all A lot of us try to keep the bodywork of our cars in very good condition. I was wondering what owner's are using in order to keep their car exterior bodywork in a very good condition. Please list your products for the following and any specific techniques you use:- 1. Colour of your car 2. What do you use to wash your car? 3. What do you do after you wash your car and products used? I'm interested to possibly try some new products as at the moment i'm generally Autoglym products. Colour of my car is white. Thanks
  18. hi mate i've done the other option and enterd the information it has requested such as previous passwords, who i receive emails from, who i send them to etc However it isn't an absolute nightmare as they feel like i haven't provided enough information and it has been rejected, is there a number i ring them on as i really need to access my account thanks
  19. I used to have a JVC in my last jap import which also had the wire cut in order to fit and that was absolutely fine, never had a problem with it.
  20. hi mate but what link do i need to go in order to provide such details and how did they get in touch with you, was it via email or phone? thanks
  21. hi mate its around 10 months old now however they won't take it back as the loom was cut in order to make it fit into the jap import, but all the wiring is fine as its all been tested and there are no shorts and i've tried another Kenwood head unit and that runs fine I've told them i'm happy for them just to give me a replacement head unit without the loom, but they won't have that.
  22. Hello all After 1 month since having my head unit sent back to Kenwood by the retailer i purchased it from, it has now been returned and have been told is should work fine. It has been repaired twice for going into protect mode, however upon plugging it all back up it seems to be working fine, however there is another problem which is that even though i could adjust the bass, treble, mid range, fader and balance on the head unit, it doesn't sound any different at all when output through the speakers. Yet another unusual problem as i've turned the bass fully up but nothing changes and everything sound as if all the settings are at normal or 0. Could anyone advise on what the problem may be? It seems like Kenwood may have removed something in order to fix the protect mode problem. Not happy at all as i'll to take it back again and wait another month to get it back and they won't give me a replacement. Thanks
  23. Nothing dodgy at all, i've never input my email into one of those spam type websites or given it out to anyone i don't know.
  24. Is that where you provide an alternative address in cases where you can't provide a mobile number and then they contact you via email. I was going to do but don't want my only other hotmail account getting blocked.
