  1. Well my build thread got as distracted as I did instead of an arb I bought a speaker instead of a distributor cap I bought a tv. i left the house for a set of cheap ass drive on ramps
  2. Thanks jay I really am naive when it comes to this stuff I can drive had advanced driving courses etc for places like Iraq etc (that was fun had to do jay turns reverse up around courses being chased etc) but when it comes to modifying stuff I am absolutely clueless. the quote was definitely not a blow over any colour I wanted was the option and it was me doing all the prep work rolled off a trailer. if anyone wants to speak to them it’s ipswich vehicle refinishers if you need an interpreter I can help well after all the fun yesterday totally forgot I have loads of new toys tu
  3. Lol I don’t even know what a blow over is I am naive as can be on most of this especially the body work I will look at body work for aero dynamics and down force for handling if power to weight ratio dictates I just want to drive her and race her! Honestly I appreciate any feed back I get and I do take it on board but emoji if she is red green yellow blue or white won’t be a show car ever. The next things I need are spare set of wheels and a lot of time learning how to drive her the person I got the quote from At the 2k I can give you a number for if you want it bu
  4. Wow I think I just heard emoji drive away like a bad hernia movie
  5. Well he could have fed me full of bs but he said don’t bother if you wanna race it you will also need new panels bumpers etc so better to save it for maintenance, parts and tyres he did himself out of a job he could have just said yep 2k which given how tired I am I may have said yes. That was literally a rolling shell quote dash out seats out engine out
  6. That’s the price as a rolling shell but he was straight with me if I am going to race it better to spend the cash on tyres
  7. Well today was the day 10 months of maybes ifs and buts but finally I drove her... She was not the cleanest when I got home after the road got resurfaced I feel the cobwebs added to the moment She looked much better with 2 added extras courtesy of paper work from DVLA and 30 seconds with a hose After a drive she needed a sit in the shade i needed some breakfast After a quote for a paint job (£2k Fuck that for a track car) I got her a wash instead £6 sacrilege I know but she's never going to a show and shine ev
  8. Got home today and spreading and spreading the ....... number plates have come
  9. I went for Japanese shape plain and normal for now I have a lot more to worry about before making her pretty Like learning to drive her the gear box when I test shifted it after reading mart1's post above felt very different I noticed 2nd and 3rd were a bit dificult to find and shes a bitch to get in reverse but I put that down to the age and potentially the need for a new gear box. When I tested it to see about the speed box I realized the gears the gears are not set up in a standard H type fashion they shift Diagonally which is a first for me. I also found the thread on here about h
  10. Thanks I found somewhere earlier so they are on the way and should be waiting for me when I get home
  11. Thanks mate and will do next time I can still have to order the plates do halfords do japanese shaped plates or do I have to order them from Somewhere does anyone know??
  12. Well I got great news today the DVLA have sent the V5 through and I now have a road legal R reg Starlet Glanza. Unfortunately I am in Denmark and cant drive her till I get home on Wednesday and due real life stuff I am going to be rushed off my feet for the first few days back. I am going to make the time though to get her out for at least an hour or 2 before Friday.
  13. I will try but for me again like Japfest will be last minute if I can make it
  14. Ok useful to know thank you the advice about double clutch and rev matching I presume stands. I was planning on building this into a track car ideally at Clubman level initially so have been focussing on handling and breaking. I imagine this gearbox may get used quite hard at some point. Should I be considering getting a 5speed?
  15. Waking up an old thread I know but recently discovered that my Glanza came with a 6 speed box it is not far from Standard still to my knowledge should I be concerned about the gear box going at some point in the near future?
  16. Lol never seen a yellow orangina thats some unhealthy oranges
  17. Thanks for the good wishes and yes the import papers are a pain. If someone needs tips give me a shout if its been in the country a while I almost got caught on loads of things. I waiting till I get to know her before I name her so fingers crossed for that paper work is at my house when I get home
  18. It turns out I know myself too well. I am on my second attempt which is annoying missed a box I had to sign after 10 phone calls to the DVLA to make sure I got it right the first time. So hopefully I will return to a V5 when I get back to the UK in 10 days or so. Ok Other bits I picked up a rear Anti Roll Bar from IDworkz needs fitting and will be replacing a few minor parts on my return then getter a proper look at suspension and breaks when I am not arguing with the inland revenue which are taking a lot of my time up when I am in the UK at the moment. On a brighter not
  19. From what i seen this all adds up right not 100% sure if it’s a good thing but I am sure I will enjoy the car my guesses are it was at a place in the midlands which is where my cousin lives
