Burty lad you make me scared to start mine underneath lol😂
-
Few members on here have really motivated me recently. Thankyou lads, it's been great speaking to you.
So, more turbo preparations. I want to throw more handling into it before power. Always of the belief that using the power you already have more effectively is better than throwing tons of unusable power into it.
To do this, I'm going to finish the Polybushing kit with new arms, balljoints and track rod ends. I've also got a new set of wheels. Gone from 14x6 et47 to 15x7 et35. Most importantly, 15s open up a better tyre choice with obviously wider sizing and better fitment. I'm thinking Pilot Sport 3 in a 195 50.

Progress has been slow recently. Mainly due to money and me catching covid.
I have since "fixed" my oil burning issues by swapping the engine from @RWDM47 into mine. Whilst doing this, I upgraded to a comp Clutches lightweight flywheel and all three fensport aluminium pulleys on the auxiliary side. She picks up a hell of a lot better now. I did want to paint the replacement up, but as it's only a temporary engine, I decided to just get the car mobile as quickly as possible and save the VHT for the other engine
The original engine for my car is currently being rebuilt. That engine will be my turbo engine, I'm making small but consistent steps to prepare it for boost. I'm going to use glanza pistons and rods on a ct9.
After thinking about what @Claymorehad explained above and on other posts, I have since decided to ditch the fuel pressure regulator cheap way of doing it and I'm going to use either det3 or greddy emanage Blue. It's my daily and it needs to be reliable, so it must be done properly.
In the meantime, I have managed to grab a rare TRD fromt upper strutbrace off of a lad in St hellens. It needs a small refurb, but it'll shine up mint.
Hope everyone's doing well, not been on here for a while so I'll catch up with the build threads soon!

Does anybody make an off the shelf cooling panel for an NA? Making preparation to go turbo and I'm currently focusing on cooling. But I don't want to glanza swap the front end. Thanks!

Just get in touch with Dean at RWD mate, great service from him. Last couple of second hand ones I've seen have been as much as a brand new one.
Thankyou mate

I know a few people produce these, not really bothered on branding. Anybody gone one for sale, let me know. Cheers

Just a small collection of photos I took at japfest. Massive shoutout to everyone who took the time to talk and explain with some great advice given too!
P.S. got a real soft spot for the 20valve 4age, if your on here, please shoot me a DM mate. You wasn't with the car and I didn't get chance to chat.

Yeah sorry mate, didn't know the rules as the warning at the top of the page won't load for me.

Engine, box and fuel tank gone. All panels available. Most of the interior is there. All engine ancillaries and suspension/steering available.

Since the coilovers, not much has taken place with the car. I've installed a kenwood headunit. I wanted an old school one for a while now, something that 17year old me 20years ago would have bought new for it and this suits perfectly. No Bluetooth, just Aux and radio. I've thrown some speakers in too, as the sound was lacking to say the least. Just upgraded to the best for factory sizes, didn't want to go cutting stuff. They are 16cm in the parcel shelf and 13cm in the front for anybody wanting to fit the same way as I have. Interior wise, I've also installed an eBay under radio cupholder box, which for £12 works mint, a tomei shifter knob and a black leather gear surround. The plan is to one day flock all the plastics and get glanza seats and doors cards. But right now, I want to put a larger dent in getting the car to perform the way I want it too.
I've installed tb development poly shifter bushes and a hypersport short shifter. It's really tightened the feel up nicely. I was worried it would be hard to get gears with but no, all sweeeet.
I've also purchased a breaker off @RWDM47 which will be used to help solve my oil consumption issues.

2, the day I picked the car up from Patrick. Long old trip from Manchester to Strathaven and back. Featuring my grandads freshly restored Mitsubishi shogun (the love for japcrap runs in the family lol😂)

Well, that's the turquoise starlet gone now, sold it on Ebay and Callum Wellens who's also on this forum came up to get it. Sad to see her go honestly feels weird lol her parts will live on in other starlets, hopefully keeps a few more on the road now. This'll probably be the end of this thread on the forum and I'll keep going in the new one with the other Starlet.
Great to meet you Patrick! Yes, sadly the car is going to be broken. Must say, I have fallen in love with the colour a little.
The engine will be transplanted into my car, which is currently burning oil. I'll use your engine whilst I have mine out to make turbo preparations on my engine and then it will be built as a spare.
The Box and all thats attaining to it will be going to Reece Cummings (Reece lad if you read this, get on here properly and start a build thread!) To manual swap his home made turboed car (he's done it for less than 400quid, it may not be pretty but it beat an Astra VXR with a video to prove it!)
The fuel tank is going to be helping@connorkyleget his road worthy, as its abit leaky at the moment lol. His uncle was into starlets way back when and used to race sprint series and had plenty of parts stashed till Connor raided them. Connors is fully TTE kitted, from his uncles old stuff!
I suppose what I'm trying to say is, the bits definitely won't be going to waste!
P.S, you might have caught the best picture of my grandads repaint here, the metalic really pops in the sun!

Just thought I'd post the ending to this. @akyakapotter gave me a second email address for Mike (Again, thankyou for trying to help work towards a resolution mate). I made contact and didn't hear anything back, not even an acknowledgement that there were delays. Again, as stated above, if this was underlined I'd have been more than happy to wait. PayPal have settled in my favour and re funded me.
As I stated above, this was more of an experiment. I'd seen what I believed to be just people slagging Tuning Developments off for the sake of it on Facebook and decided I wanted to make my own mind up. Well, it's been made 😂
Think I'll order the bushes above, from Tim at TB Developments, as his service was excellent when I purchased my coilovers

So, small update with no pictures sadly. I decided to go with a Gizfab Panhard arm. I had a great chat on the phone with Mr Gizfab himself, Eden Young, and I must say I can't wait too see what he's going to produce for the Starlet chassis. He told me he was easily motivated when working on cars he loves and has always wanted a Glanza. He has aquired a rotten test mule and hopes to have started production before the second half of the year. If you havent heard of Gizfab, do have a look. They do some awesome work within the micra community, which I get the feeling Eden will attempt to replicate within the starlet world.
As soon as the Panhard arrived, the coilovers went on. I've aligned it very basically, to drive straight ahead with the wheels straight until it goes in for a proper setup with a local rally lad who does custom alignments as part of his business. I have a rough idea of how values affect the feel, but I'm sure they guru will guide me through it all.
I must say, the BC recommended spring rates are perfect. If anything, it's a little bouncy. But I need to have a proper play around with the settings yet.

I'm supposedly looking at a g6 box for bolt on straight to a 4e, any idea where the numbers are to confirm this on the box?
I am nowhere near the box, so can't have a look for myself and the seller can't find anything. Cheers

Hi guys.
I swapped a 4efe with a 4efte engine in a Corolla E11. I am researching info to convert to 4WD. What’s are the options? I was told that the 4afe Corolla E11 SW 4WD won’t fit the 4efte engine. What do you think?
Don't 100% quote me, but ive heard of people using the G6R 6 speed on a 4efe by swapping the bellhousing. Could this not be possible with the 4wd box?

There may be a genuine reason for the delay, but it sounds like you've been more than reasonable anyway.
If you bought on eBay your covered as they guarantee your item or a refund.
If you want to start the process go to the item in your account, click "I didn't receive my item" and check the I want a refund box. eBay will then contact the supplier to respond. After a few days, if its not sorted then you can ask eBay to step in (there's a button to click) and they force the refund for you.
Hope you get sorted.
Thankyou mate, I had hoped people would see I've tried to be reasonable. If there is a genuine reason, I'd have expected a message on the website, or something along those lines.
Like I say, the most disappointing thing is i would have been looking to place a larger order based on what was on the website. The brake cooling ducts peaked my interest. Maybe its a right and DIY more myself.
I started a claim through PayPal last night, but I would honestly rather have the bushes.
If I hear anything, I'll update this post.

I don't like doing this, but people need to be made aware of others experiences to help them make the right decision.
After seeing what where seemingly a few "witch hunts" on Facebook about Tuning Developments, I thought I'd give them a try and make judgment for myself.
I ordered the solid shifter bushes off ebay on the 28th of January. The order status never changed from "Paid" to "Dispatched" so I decided I'd enquire about the whereabouts of my order, this would now be some three weeks on from the purchase date. No reply.
Since, i've messaged on Ebay, Emailed and Phoned (all phoning does is prompt you to email then direct you to an already full answering machine) to no avail.
I've since had a further look on there website and I find it very strange how there's no payment option once you reach the checkout.
Again, I hate to have to do this, but people need to know. The worst part about it all, is the fact that there are some quality looking parts on the website I wouldn't have minded buying!
Luckily, I purchased through PayPal, so should get the money back. Think I'll be sticking to the likes of Id works and fensport from now on!

the BC are strong. Coil overs make a hell of a difference, to the handling. Loving the build so far.
Thankyou mate, more to come!

If you look at the early pics in my build thread mine looked so good really low but on cheap springs worn shocks and 45 profile tires it was a terrible ride
Best of both worlds with the coilovers such a good route to go down turning into a nice little NA build keep us updated on here
Did used to like the whole "scene", but stance cars do not interest me anymore. Function over form. It probably won't be going all that low mate. Just after it being good round corners. All my shockers are original toyota, so can't blame them for being abit boaty haha!

Great buy can't wait to see these fitted congrats on the exams
Thankyou mate, neither can I! These and a good alignment should make a massive difference.

Update. I know this probably isn't a big deal to most of you guys, but it is to me. I've recently purchased my first set of proper coilovers. I didn't want to attempt the cheap route and modify something, I wanted a product purpose built for the car. I decided with the BR Series by BC Racing in the end. Front 6kg and rear 4kg spring rates.
Massive thanks to Tim at TBDEVELOPEMTS (https://www.tbdevelopments.com/). Great service, ordered Sunday after a weekend of uming and arring, for them to arrive Tuesday! Alot quicker than I expected!
Its fair to say I've started as I mean to go on. No corners will be cut from here on in!
Also, as a side note, I offically passed my exams today. I'm offically a level 3 trains vehicle technician!
Hope everyone's doing okay!
