  1. If anyone if fife knows somewhere i could store the car that would be helpful... lockup or somewhere similar
  2. As a man of science i have got to ask... how the hell did that happen.
  3. Ok so it reay looks like my starlet is gonna be written off. My thoughts are to strip it down and use it as a track day racer. Can anyone tell me what the bare minimum is that you absolutely HAVE to do to make the car useable on the track? Any easy Modification suggestions welcome.
  4. Seriously Considering it
  5. There is like absolutely no cars similar with as much power... was looking at a 1.6 polo... it only has 75bhp with a 0-60 of 11.8. Starlets are really great.
  6. Well i took the rear bumper off tonight. (had one helluva job wrestling it back on, so badly twisted) But the rear is in a state. Heres the damage, didn't think she was going that fast...
  7. Dunno if its anyone on here but i've seen it around d/line quite a bit lately.
  8. Lol. Just got everyone at work with that.
  9. Sure Does My man, sure does.
  10. bah. things like this happen. I work in the building insurance industry and i see first hand the things that can happen. but i guess that why we pay scandalous amounts for our insurance. to help us sleep at night
  11. Lol... probably gonna move from the humble starlet for a bit, at least till the claim is settled and my insurance cost comes down, then buy a glanza. i am possibly looking to buy a civic for now. but since im gonna have to carry my policy over, i have to use the details i have on the current policy, which shows me with a license for 7 months. still gonna be sad to see my starbo go. been good. but still... the claims handler says it should take 10-12 weeks to settle a claim, which means i can still use it till then.

  13. Afraid this is the end of my starlet, been quoted £1500 - £2000. I paid £1000 for the car so i guess its bye bye starlet. Some quite major structural damage as i thought, needs pulled out, new rear light, new parcel shelf, rear bumper, boot door, rear bar, Interior trim and work to the boot floor. It sucks, its only got 50k on the clock and runs like a dream, i've put loads of hours into the car for it to be taken by a woman with short attention and a heavy gas foot. There is still a chance it will be repaired, stranger things have happened (I seen someone hugging a
  14. I just phoned the insurance company, so they told me to get two quotes from garages of my choice. gonna be a dear one though
  15. yeah i hope i can get it fixed, im not gonna be able to take it anywhere cause the boot doesn't shut. The car that hit me had just about no damage
  16. Yeah, went to the scrapyard today to try get a new suspension strut and this happens. Pull up at a roundabout, and a few seconds later somebody hits me. Doesn't look bad but theres some damage to the chassis. The boot doesn't close properly. A good exaple of how hard i was hit is the spare wheel has bent the bolt that holds it in place. Then the day just took another crap on me. realised i had lost a hub cap when i got home. I'm gutted as this looks like a write off. Bugger.
  17. http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/ all three cables for around 50 quid Regards
  18. Great, enjoyed that. "A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house." Brilliant
  19. Ragger, I had a similar problem when i first got my EP91 N/A, sounded like a super/turbo whine. got louder as you went faster. Don't ask me how but it went away after i took the glove box panel off, my theory is that the speaker cable was touching something that was causing interference. I could be way off here but give it a try and see if it works. Sounds stupid but like i said, i had a similar thing from the way you describe it. As for an alternator, theres one on ebay, a seller that refurbs them. as for a new one i know for a fact that a 55W alternator new from halfords or partco was gonn
  20. No Promises but i will try
  21. Problem Solved, 50% credit to Starlet SR. Loosened up the nut next to the lever and hear a huge ping noise. crapped myself cause i thought that the cable had either snapped or come off. Turns out it hadn't, the nut had just seized in place, hence why i was unable to tighten it any further. i Re-Tightened the nut back up, put the drums back together and took it on its first handbrake turn (not that its gonna be a common occurance) So after all this it was something simple... Thanks to everyone for there help
  22. Well a miracle has occured and it is a sunny day in scotland, im gonna go take the brakes to bits and get some photo's posted.
