  1. wow, I love what you've done with the cold air feeds, wrapping then extending the standard one looks really good engine bay is looking great shame about the little accident though
  2. I suppose I'll declare the mods then, I don't want to risk anything. I doubt I'll bother spending 40 quid as opposed to £10 on a filter if it's not going to make much difference, the same as a cold air induction kit, £130 odd for about 3BHP more? I don't exactly have alot of money to throw around (I'd rather save it and spend it in a couple of years on something that's actually worth putting big money into, i.e. a Glanza).
  3. Yeah I know, but going from this: So I don't know if it's worth taking the risk, a lad up my street had a crash and his insurance company wouldn't pay out because he had a STICKER on the side of his car... and they came up with shit that it changed the structure of the car lol... What about the air filter aswell, considering it's the panel filter I assume they wouldn't bother opening the box to check the filter the same as they probably wouldn't bother checking the plugs? Anyhow, what sort of increase am I looking at with a Corolla manifold and K&N panel filter? (Assuming the K&am
  4. I don't want to go berserk and spend a fortune on mods then another fortune when the insurance goes up... so I've been thinking, and done a bit of reading... 100BHP would be a nice target, but even a 10BHP increase would be better than nothing, don't get me wrong it has nice power for a 1.3 N/A, but no matter how much power you have you know you want just a little bit more Corolla Manifold - £30 to £50 K&N Panel filter - £40 (keeping standard airbox) decent spark plugs - £25 (and maybe HT leads, aswell as replacing rotor arm/distributor cap) and get rid
  5. stole this guys topic lol but might aswell have all the rolla mani questions in one topic rather than starting a new... Am I right in saying it should cost around £30 from a scrappy and no more than £60 including P&P from anywhere else?
  6. oh fair enough, it's just that I've heard some really stupid things with insurance companies... funniest one I've heard was: some lad up my street put a sticker on the side of his car, he had a crash, and his insurance company were saying it changed the structural properties of his car and they wouldn't pay out LOL
  7. I've heard bad things about HKS, I trust K&N though. A little more on topic; do rolla manis make much difference to insurance? (for a 17 year old)
  8. Someone's been busy with the paint nice door handles and wing mirrors get a new Toyota badge for the bonnet though
  9. tenner (including p&p) off ebay, couldn't find any K&N ones for that price
  10. 16 years old and not much money (saving for insurance and other things) my dad is the one thrashing around in it at the moment, I'd rather be the one dirtying the expensive filter if I'm the one paying for it standard cheapo filters ftw ! (just ordered a replacement one, current one is filthy, but I think I may need to replace the spark plugs aswell because by the looks of it the filter hasn't been changed for a very very long time, if it's been running rich the sparkplugs could be shitted up) oops, jacking someone elses topic
  11. So that I don't have to make a new topic just for the sake of one small question; do rolla manis make much difference to the sound? (With the standard airbox).
  12. how much did you pay for them, and where from?
  13. If I were you I'd move that cold air feed pipe to the other side, with it as it is going right above the exhaust manifold I wouldn't really call it a "cold air" feed.
  14. I've been told 195/50/15 is best for Starlets.
  15. ah I forgot about shipping costs nevermind the tyres then, tyres shouldn't be too hard to get as my uncle sells them Enzo where about it's this thing that was posted up? I'll PM starlet rick later. Does anyone have a rough idea of how much it costs to repaint rims? Because if the price is right I wouldn't mind buying some in silver or black and just having them repainted. But it all depends on the total cost of it all.
  16. I'm after some alloys with the following: 15" 5 to 8 spokes WHITE prefer a price of under £350 including tyres So does anyone have any suggestions, or even better, some for sale? I really liked Weds Sport TC-05's until I tried to search for some... BSA Enforcers are nice and if I wait until April I can get them cheap with a discount but I'm unsure as to how good they'd look, I doubt 10 spokes on 15 inchers would look right on a Starlet. Speedline SRs are a possibility if sprayed white... Car = White EP91 N/A
  17. I know halfords isn't great but you could always go and have a look, my local one has loads and loads of different meshes, even though some of them do look like they were made to go on rabbit hutches or something...
  18. what do u mean by fine? fine as in big gaps in the mesh or loads and loads of little gaps?
  19. It's his girlfriend's N/A Sportif. I'd be interested to know how many miles it has done.
  20. 99% sure you're burning oil might wanna check the oil do you have service history and other things? how many miles on the car? but I'd rather go by what other people are saying, I can only make assumptions based on what you've said, other people here are more experienced than me
  21. R reg Sportif... same as what I've got (except mine's white). Great car, great engine. I agree on the "Paid a bit too much for it". How many miles on it? I paid £750 for mine, 65k miles.
  22. Does it happen when the car has been running for ages? Or is it only when you start it? If it still smokes when it's been running for a while I'd say you're most probably burning oil.
  23. "smoking ad from the back" wtf? :S dunno what you were trying to say there, but if it's smoking it could be that it's burning oil
  24. If you don't want to touch the engine then the next thing I'd suggest is getting rid of some weight. major exterior parts: carbon fibre hood get rid of any unnecessary body parts (such as the spoiler) lightweight alloy wheels internal stripout: seats carpets door panels spare wheel & tools the list goes on... you wont actually get anymore BHP but you will benefit in both performance and economy with the reduced weight although I do think you should consider getting a manual gearbox
